Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

One pt? I'm well aware of the QT prolongation. Amioderone is an antiarhthmic that is use in open hearts of which 20% will go into afib. Amioderone causes QT prolongation. It is the go to drug in afib. Do we not use it in open heart because it might cause QT prolongation? No. We use it and monitor. That is standard practice.
We use flouriquinalones in practice frequently. Do we just let infections go out of control because we are scared of side effects? No. We treat and monitor.
That article is super hype from reality of one pt. If they prolong their QT or have QTc numbers that are alarming we reconsider benefit vs cost to pt. This is the reality of medicine and practice.
Is there a google translate for this?

All I know is that when this is over, my sleeping, eating and exercise routines are gonna need a major reset.
tell me about it, I go to bed at 2 get up at 6 and walk downstairs to sign on before the kids wake up.....make a cocktail after I am done homeschooling, which is about 5. Then I drink until bed and get ready to do the same thing the next day. My liver will hate me pretty soon.

How the man running World Health Organisation trashed by Trump as China-centric is a Career politician who worked for a Communist Junta and became its First NON-doctor Director-General 'following intense Lobbying from Beijing'

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a little-known figure before the coronavirus pandemic, has risen to prominence as Director-General of the World Health Organisation which is spearheading global responses to the virus.

Dr Tedros - who has never practised as a medical doctor - is a career politician who was born in what is now Eritrea, began work under the Communist Derg junta, came to study in the UK, then rose to the top of Ethiopia's government first as Health Minister and then Foreign Minister before being elected to lead the WHO in 2017.

He is now facing heavy criticism over his handling of the pandemic, especially for praise he heaped on China's communist party for its response - hailing the regime's 'commitment to transparency' and saying the speed with which it detected the virus was 'beyond words'.

That has led to allegations - mostly recently made by Donald Trump - that the WHO is 'China-centric', a position that the US President has promised to 'look into'.

Trump has threatened to suspend US funding to the WHO until an investigation has been carried out, while suggesting that they withheld information on the virus.

Indeed, it is not the first time that Dr Tedros has been accused of cosying up to China. Shortly after his election victory in 2017, it was alleged that Chinese diplomats had been heavily involved in lobbying for him.

UN records also show that Chinese contributions to both Ethiopia's aid budget and the WHO have substantially increased during times when he was in top leadership positions.

Shortly after his election to the WHO, a report in The Times said: 'Chinese diplomats had campaigned hard for the Ethiopian, using Beijing’s financial clout and opaque aid budget to build support for him among developing countries.'

According to the BBC, Dr Tedros then joined the hard-left TPLF - which started life as a Communist party and played a major role in overthrowing Mariam in 1991. It later became part of the EPRDF, a coalition of left-wing parties that ruled Ethiopia until last year.

Don't play dumb, you know exactly what her Little committee is for

Hey, you've got Hannity and the Trump slurpers floating the idea of blaming the WHO and China, and calling for accountability. Followed shortly after by Trump jumping on that bandwagon (despite lauding the WHO and China just a month ago).

All we are asking for is that Trump and his administration be held accountable, as well. You should embrace this. Its another opportunity for Trump to show his true authoritarian colors.

And you know, it is truly ironic. Trump is all about going after the "Deep State," wanting to hold government accountable. Quit protecting itself.

Yet, every time the government tries to keep a lid on abuse of power, or tells the other branches when there is a problem, Trump screeches that its politics and fires everyone involved. Then, when the press tries to hold him accountable, he engages in his usual schoolyard bullying tactics and name calling.

For a guy that was supposed to be all about accountability, he sure does bristle when he is the one being held to account.

In order to feel like this whole effort is worthwhile, I am looking at what's happened in nursing homes where the virus broke out and assuming that is the sort of damage that would have been done among the vulnerable portion of our population if not for the shut down.
My sister recently delivered groceries to my elderly parents who have self quarantined since Feb. They went to the bedroom, she brought the groceries in and left yelling i love you. That's what should be done. I feel for the elderly at this time because some already suffer from social isolation. The thought of this virus running rampant in nursing homes disturbs me beyond belief. They will be isolated from their friends.
