Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Any RN or doctor posting on media/social media about "how bad it is" is either lying and/or grandstanding....just like the RN who "quit Parkwest" recently
Yeah, I read this in the News-Sentinel today, it doesn't look like we're anywhere close to critical yet.

“The task force, led by Dr. Keith Gray of UT Medical Center, is working quickly to confirm this regional surge plan,” Kincannon said.

Knox News has obtained figures that reveal new information about the status of critical medical resources at local hospitals as of Friday:

❚ Knox County’s hospitals have 1,726 beds, with 891 — or 51.6% — of them occupied.

❚ The hospitals have 288 ICU beds, with 197 — or 68.4% — of them occupied.

❚ The hospitals have 277 ventilators in all, with 89 — or 32.1% — in use.

You are not answering the criticism.

It is one thing to say that a physician in an act of life-saving, nothing-to-lose moment, tries the drug on a paitent. It is also one thing to say that, otherwise, for healthy people or people with mild cases, we are studying the drug and its effects and doing cost benefit analysis as we do with all drugs.

It is quite another to say in advance of any actual valid science that it works, or even just is likely to work, and that in the meantime maybe people should take it in advance as a preventative measure.

It’s yet quite another to keep harping in this when it doesn’t matter what the president says if a prescription is needed to use it for any purpose. Any doctor that prescribes this prophylactically because the president says so, or because their patient says so based on the president, they shouldn’t be a doctor.

I get it, I’m not a Trump fan in the least, but you are reaching for outrage here. Trump saying use this preventively has no bearing on how many people will actually use it preventively. That is between the doctor and patient.

TN went from needing 15k beds yesterday to 1,200 today. They had already started working on converting convention centers to emergency wards to get the additional 7k beds they were told they needed. Now we’re projected to use 15% of capacity.

I posted the actual quote before. He never says everyone should be on it prophylactically and hedges significantly with his OPINION on the information and relays his HOPE that it is something useful.

Trump wants to give people some hope that the medical system can at least do something for them and not be a negative Nancy like Fauci and say we have to have studies and it will be years before we can give people the medicine or a vaccine is available. Frankly I'm growing old of this debate whether this medicine works or not by the media. If it was useless they wouldn't be prescribing it by the millions and there wouldn't be evidence showing that it at least helps. What we are seeing currently is massive deaths and I'd take it if my only choice was to do nothing or try a 75 year old medicine that I've taken before with no side effects.

who is he prescribing it to? There is no solid evidence that it works for Covid-19. If it works for covid-19, these other scientists would not be trying to find a vaccine and a cure.

Umm...there is actually a good deal of evidence supporting that the drug works as a treatment for patients already suffering from severe cases of covid-19. Now, there isn't any evidence that I am aware of that suggests it works as a preventative treatment which is the purpose of any vaccine. That's why a vaccine remains in the works, to prevent people from ever contracting this virus rather than just to treat them after they already have it.

LOL, I didn't put the words in her mouth and where is it stated she's a democrat? Your redirection and deflection of idiots listening to trump and doing what comes naturally reeks of a story hitting too close to home.
“We weren’t big supporters of [Trump], but we did see that they were using it in China and stuff. And we just made a horrible, tragic mistake. It was stupid, and it was horrible, and we should have never done it. But it’s done and now I’ve lost my husband. And my whole life was my husband … We didn’t think it would kill us. We thought if anything it would help us ‘cuz that’s what we’ve been hearing on the news.”

Not sure where to start. Right or Left you can't help this level of dumb.

That's the reason for precision in my reply to your other text. Some test positive but show no indicators of infection. As such, you could work beside someone who isn't "infected". Also, others can test positive with very mild symptoms...like allergies (since it is that time of year) for instance. That person could be infected and simply assume it is something else and unwittingly expose others.
which is why I self quarantined.

Btw. It's been 14 days since my first symptom and 11 since my last. I am 99% it wasnt Covid. With how mild my symptoms were I would have been ticked about taking more than 1 sick day for this under normal circumstances. And I am super ticked about being under house arrest for this.
