Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Hey Weezer, I’ve been working yesterday and today and haven’t had a chance. Why is she saying “right now” is the very important time in the curve? Have we seen a slight downward trend in the past 24/48 hrs?
I have no idea. Maybe someone else knows the answer, but I don't think it's realistic to tell people "hey, you don't need food or medicine".

Nevada Governor Found Hoarding Hydroxychloroquine After Banning Drug

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, Democrat, had a kneejerk reaction to President Trump's optimism about a malaria drug that might be an effective treatment for the Wuhan coronavirus. Trump was hopeful about the drug, so anti-Trump Democrats like Sisolak were against it. Gov. Sisolak banned (hydroxy)chloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19, ostensibly over concern of hoarders stockpiling the medicine and causing shortages for patients who use the drug for other ailments like Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. But while the governor restricted the public from receiving the potentially life-saving drug, Nevada's Department of Corrections began stockpiling the drug for prisoners.

According to sources at the drug maker, Concordia Pharmaceuticals Inc, Nevada prisons ordered a large number of their anti-malaria Hydroxychloroquine drug under the name, Plaquenli. Nevada prisons has literally ZERO cases of prisoners infected with the COVID 19 virus to date. The Nevada Board of Pharmacies and the Governor claimed the rule barring doctors from prescribing the drug outside of hospitals was to stop hoarding. After Sisolak’s ban went into effect, the State Prison hoarded the drug in a mass just in case they had break out.
Gov. Sisolak refused to reverse his order even after the FDA issued an emergency order earlier this week approving the drug for use against COVID 19.
Unbelievable. And Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is no better. When reports that (hydroxy)chloroquine showed promising signs as a safe treatment for the coronavirus, and after President Trump expressed his optimism over the drug's efficacy, Whitmer moved immediately to block Michiganders from gaining access to the potentially life-saving treatment. Both governors cited concerns over shortages, but alternative medicines are available to treat lupus. And if they haven't noticed, we're kind of in the middle of a pandemic.

Drugmakers have already ramped up production of (hydroxy)chloroquine in response to increased demand, and people still need a prescription from a doctor to obtain the medicine. The FDA has now issued emergency-use authorization of (hydroxy)chloroquine for COVID-19, so the focus at this point should be making more of this promising drug, not restricting its use amid a global pandemic for which we currently have no vaccine.

We have 70 cases in my county. I dont know anyone who has it. The stats say if you are healthy and less than 50, it's rare, if not extremely rare. It's odd we shut down our country for this. We are being led by modelers, Twitter, and the media. This just doesn't pass the sniff test.
He's right.

Obviously this means no one outside of NY has it.

There are 348 cases in my county, Lee in Florida and I don't know anyone who has it. There have been 400+ flu cases reported in Lee county this year and I don't know anyone who's had it. I also don't know anyone who's died in a car wreck or of heart disease this year either. What can all.of this mean? Lies?

I’m completely overcome with jealousy.

Lol. You want soooooo bad for this oped to matter. It wouldn’t, even if that oped supported all of the conclusions you’re drawing from it.

What do mean by matter; wouldn't matter politically if true or matter because you're not interested in truth?

I drew one conclusion: that the biodefense strategy and capable personnel were not eliminated, are well funded, and that with no separate silos to protect, the directorate will likely work more efficiently.

"LOL" at straw man #22 from you.

Apologies for the misquote but it doesn't change the fact you did not disprove with anything other than your "feelings" NC's post. Classic liberal go to. Well that and the fact he is racist
Lol. “YoUr a LibErAl!”

What exactly do you think I should disprove and why?

He all but admitted he wouldn’t trust Trump to staff a McDonald’s drive thru. The truth or validity of this one anecdote clearly didn’t change that for him. So why bother?

It’s purely an attempt to try to change the subject to one smaller, more manageable story that doesn’t even support the conclusions he’s drawing from it.

Ok, then your “one conclusion” (actually 4 conclusions) doesn’t rebut what I said, therefore it is a deflection (like I said it was) and I feel no need to indulge you in your attempt to change the subject.

Again: lol.

You could be right , our son-in-law is on the Carl Vincent in the air wing group . I know he has a commanding officer for that group but I believe he’s just over that part of it and the actual captain of the ship is considered commander of its entirety, even when the Admiral is on board . Lots of moving parts but only one person in charge at a time thing.
Well I went and looked it up. Definitely 2 Captains. 1 for the Ship, 1 for the Planes.

The Captain of the Ship is the Big Boss.

Interesting side note: apparently to be a Captain of an Aircraft Carrier, you have to come from the aviation line of command. So the Captain of the Ship, at one point, was probably Captain of the Air Wing.

Which I guess makes sense. You wouldn’t want the guy running the boat to not know anything about the Aircraft Operations onboard.

I think the guy who actually consolidated the three directorates to be "in a position to know", know why and know what was done.
I would think the guy who actually consolidated the three directorates to be a tad bit biased and bound to see the consolidation as a good thing. His opinion is virtually meaningless.

I listened to some reporting today that is similar to this article Axios article. This is the kind of stuff that's going to wind up drawing people into the streets if this thing drags out much longer.
Well I for one can't think of a time in history where demonizing "the rich" didn't have fantastic consequences.

So summarize all the articles, "The rich spend their money to buy more stuff than other people including groceries, trips, and medical care."

Shocking and appaling stuff.

Yes, and we don't shut the country down for those. There's a middle ground between do nothing and shut the country down.

That being said, I bet you know someone with the flu. Maybe it didn't go out in a mass text, but something like 1 in 5 get the flu each year.

That really really sucks.

I also hate these kind of stories because I believe there is a desire to use them to drive fear. This can certainly happen, but is not close to the norm
Banning the NY post from the internet would be a great start. It literally says in the article they don't even know if he was tested for Covid19
