Lol. Just Stop. Your own words and action prove you don’t even believe this horse ****.
Let's see, guy who consolidated the directorates under one roof and explains why, how, and the current structure, or random VN guy? Or media who have an unparalleled record of inaccuracy and falsehood for 3.5 years now?

yawn...

From what I looked up (not a military expert for sure) The Roosevelt is the Flagship of Carrier Strike Group 9 which is part of the Third Fleet. There is an Admiral in charge of the Fleet but he doesn't necessarily have to be on the Flagship at all times. At a given time he could be anywhere or on any ship within the group or on land at Third Fleet Headquarters in San Diego.

As far as being the ranking officer on the ship I guess he wouldn't be if the Admiral was on board. But there are instances where lower ranking personnel are in charge of someone of higher rank. I imagine Captain Kirk would kick an Admiral's ass if he interfered with the operation of the Enterprise.

Rear Admiral Baker was on board during this incident.

Statement From SECNAV on Relief of CO Aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71)

"The next day, I spoke with the CO of the THEODORE ROOSEVELT myself, and this morning, I have spoken to the TR’s Carrier Strike Group Commander, RDML Stuart Baker. RDML Baker did not know about the letter before it was sent to him via email by the CO. It is important to understand that the Strike Group Commander, the CO’s immediate boss, is embarked on the Theodore Roosevelt, right down the passageway from him. The letter was sent over non- secure, unclassified email even though that ship possesses some of the most sophisticated communications and encryption equipment in the Fleet.

It was sent outside the chain of command, at the same time the rest of the Navy was fully responding. Worse, the Captain’s actions made his Sailors, their families, and many in the public believe that his letter was the only reason help from our larger Navy family was forthcoming, which was hardly the case."

That really really sucks.

I also hate these kind of stories because I believe there is a desire to use them to drive fear. This can certainly happen, but is not close to the norm
The desire is to get people to stay at home. To show that anyone can get it, and anyone can die from it. His wife was positive for it and lived.....he got it and died. People need to think about other people, just not themselves.

Yeah, the SEAL thing was far more polarizing given the severity of the deed, I don't agree with that one at all. It'll be interesting to see if he weighs in again, I'd imagine far more people would support a well meaning Captain versus a murderous SEAL.

Most sane people can and do support both.
