Don’t know enough about him. I’m sure he’s a smart guy, but if it’s me, I go steal a top supply chain guru that’s been doing it for a long time. Would probably look for military experience in the same area of expertise along with excellent track record in the corporate/business world. IOW, a person in high demand that knows this stuff forward and backward.

Ain't nepotism grand!

What does being in charge of pandemic response mean? What does he actually do? He seems well educated and the president trusts him so that’s good enough for me.... if he screws it up then it is on trump.
At the very least it should mean he knows what the Strategic National Emergency Stockpile is and how it his used.

I really don’t know either way..... how does anyone on this site know one way or the other?

I’m asking an opinion. You think because he is well educated and Trump trusts him, it’s all good.

I’m honestly wondering how many people really believe this guy should be in charge of this.

I don’t think a real estate exec is the best choice for this position. It’s hard to fathom Trump couldn’t have found a better option. Not even the best, just better, even marginally.

I have heard all about those comments.... I took it to mean that the national supply is not suppose to be used as a closet....states are suppose to handle their business and the federal government supplement where needed.... he did suck at public speaking though.

I agree 100%.

Is the blind partisan support for Trump so bad that even the die hard cant see this as a reasonable position? What is so hard about saying Jared Kushner has no business being in charge of this?

I believe an ex military or present military logistics officer would be a better choice. Donnie doesn't really think things through.

I don't give a dam who the President is where he is Republican or Dimocrat or what ever. It doesn't matter how bad things are. The the minute the President of the United States gets on television wearing a mask we are screwed as a Nation.

Disagree. It will show that he heeds the advice of the experts. It will say to the red hat army that survival is a higher priority than his ego and that they should also take this seriously. It would show that he, too, is working to slow the spread.

His refusal to so so, purely because of his worries about political optics, is exactly what is wrong with him, and his supporters.

Pleasantly surprised the Trump Org didn't keep them on board but stiff 'em on payday. That was always their M.O. They've improved!

Imagine the memes though.

It's an interesting fence you're straddling. On the one hand, Trump is a bloviating moron who no one should listen to (especially democrats). On the other, he needs needs to set an example for everyone (or "red hats"). Seems to me the infection is worst in densely populated urban centers which are overwhelmingly democrat. Have you seen the pics of people still crammed onto the NYC subway?

I may have a very myopic view of the whole situation, though. I don't watch news, don't tune into Trump's press conferences, and don't have twitter.

Lets see a comparison between the EU and US and within a timeframe from the first positive diagnosis.

The cumulative EU line falls over and plateaus at the end of March, just like you would expect since all of the pictured member states’ lines do that as well.

The United States line does not fall over.

Admittedly, that is only one aspect of judging the response, but since most of the government response now is planning for future events, it’s hard to say how effective it’s been except to look at how effective known aspects have been and listen to the people on the receiving end of the response.

The left is blaming Trump for not acting soon enough, but the infectious disease expert himself was downplaying the virus back then. I thought Trump was supposed to listen to the experts?

I'm confused.
You believe what he says behind the scenes is always the same as what he says on TV?
