It's all about population density. There was a map posted yesterday; you could look at it and figure out where our largest cities are. If testing were really good, it would be interesting to see if the infected rate per capita also generally trends with population density - that would give a much more accurate idea of how population congestion influences transmission. Nursing homes and cruise ship experience would say there is a very strong correlation, but the age and health factor skews that too much to draw conclusions. There are over a hundred cases on a US Navy carrier, and you would assume they are much healthier than people in nursing homes.

Gotta love this article. Hungary doesn't seem to be a likely spot for a malaria outbreak.

The European Commission said on Tuesday there was no evidence that a drug touted by U.S. President Donald Trump as a potential miracle cure against COVID-19 was effective against the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

Hungary, a European Union member, last week banned the commercial export of hydroxychloroquine.

“As Hungary is one of the world’s largest exporters of this ingredient, the protection and medical supply of the Hungarian population is now a priority,” the government said..

Just make one up. They have no way of knowing what’s what, and them stopping people for that is actually illegal. People need to stand up for their rights or they’ll get trampled all over.
I'm curious about how the orders are being enforced in different jurisdictions. And who decides which businesses are "essential" and which are not.

Basically I would expect any business which is public-facing but for non-essential goods and services (e.g. a hair salon, massage parlor, or "adult" store) may not be allowed to operate if located in a Stay at Home area but industry and suppliers to industry (I am in this latter category) will not be hassled if they continue to operate.

I know healthcare employers are threatening RN employees who are refusing to work by reporting there license to the state

If we start hearing terms like "Your papers appear to be in order, you may pass", then this country needs to start some serious self reflection about what we are as a country. How you manage the irresponsible without trampling the rights of everyone else is a real issue.

You're already hearing that in places here in Virginia.

No offense to the officer stopping me, should it happen, but they aren't getting sh*t from me.

Pretty much all states and localities are going off the Dept of Homeland Security guidelines.

Generally that makes sense as far as determining what business are open, but it doesn't make sense that only people working in those business should be on the road. Having some of them open - including physicians - makes no sense if people aren't allowed to travel from home to businesses. Besides people apparently have to get out to bring home TP and maybe some groceries. If it gets to the point of checking people driving, then it might appear there are too many cops and overly officious chiefs.
