Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I mean, like I said, I can understand the quarantine for a few weeks so we can prepare....but orders like this are just ridiculous.

I've been pretty outspoken for taking all precautions to stop the spread, but this is too much. To me it looks like the governor of VA is trying to flex his muscles just to show that he can.

Coronavirus job losses could total 47 million, unemployment rate may hit 32%, Fed estimates

Millions of Americans already have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus crisis and the worst of the damage is yet to come, according to a Federal Reserve estimate.

Economists at the Fed’s St. Louis district project total employment reductions of 47 million, which would translate to a 32.1% unemployment rate, according to a recent analysis of how bad things could get.

The projections are even worse than St. Louis Fed President James Bullard’s much-publicized estimate of 30%. They reflect the high nature of at-risk jobs that ultimately could be lost to a government-induced economic freeze aimed at halting the coronavirus spread.

“These are very large numbers by historical standards, but this is a rather unique shock that is unlike any other experienced by the U.S. economy in the last 100 years,” St. Louis Fed economist Miguel Faria-e-Castro wrote in a research paper posted last week.

There are a couple of important caveats to what Faria-e-Castro calls “back-of-the-envelope” calculations: They don’t account for workers who may drop out of the labor force, thus bringing down the headline unemployment rate, and they do not estimate the impact of recently passed government stimulus, which will extend unemployment benefits and subsidize companies for not cutting staff.

They are not asking difficult questions..... they are trying to form a narrative..... you can love the media all you want too.... I think they are full of sh$t and that has nothing to do with who our president is.
Did you think they were full of shi* when Obama or Clinton were President and got asked difficult questions, which they often did? I bet you were fine with it then.

I hate it for the good and sane citizens in VA, but I have no sympathy for the fools that voted to elect that dumbass Northam, they are getting and deserve every bit of sh*tty government that they asked for.
Who would have ever thought people would chose healthcare over fear of losing their guns and confederate statues.

They all are - thats what happens when ultra rich get elected to a high office -- Every business in VA should be looking to move out and let the state go insolvent

Interesting, what has Northam done for healthcare other than abort babies after birth.

“In this particular example, if a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen,” Northam said. “The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

He expanded Medicaid and hasn't killed babies.

I think my favorite part about this thread is reading people complaining about our media bullying Trump at his press conferences and then seeing the same people say they don’t trust any info from China.

My least favorite thing about this thread is that I’ll never be able to top @luthervol for making that point and having it go over everyone’s heads.

Step into the Presidents shoes and you decide who gets what. I love the 20/20 second guessing that goes on.
The President’s job is undoubtedly tough, especially in times like this. Part of his job is to keep the public as informed as possible. This includes answering questions that may be difficult.
His initial response was to deny he ever said that, but reminded of his comments during his interview with Hannity. Then went on attack.
No matter how tough the job is, the fact still remains that it’s his job to figure out who gets what as it pertains scarce resources that the States are needing to get through this. Even on this board, there’s been a lot of discussion concerning how to determine who gets what and when, so how is it not proper to ask the guy who will ultimately decide that about his process in determining it?
