Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

OTOH, if one is not constantly looking for grievance, one is less likely to be aggrieved.

Mr. Azar on Saturday defended Mr. Trump’s phrasing, saying it reflected a recent shift by federal health agencies, which have loosened testing regulations. The C.D.C on Wednesday lifted all restrictions on testing for the coronavirus.

“What the president said yesterday at the C.D.C., that is consistent with what the F.D.A. and the C.D.C. are saying, which is we as regulators, or as those shipping the test, are not restricting who can get tested,” Mr. Azar said. “We are leaving that to the professional judgment of doctors and public health officials.”
Mr. Trump used “shorthand” to make that point, Mr. Azar said.
“What he meant to say is we’re not in the way of that,” Mr. Azar said. “And he knows the numbers. We brief him daily.”

Mr. Azar’s assertion echoed one made by Vice President Mike Pence at a White House news conference Friday evening, in which the vice president said that doctors treating potentially symptomatic Americans could contact local officials and have state labs do the testing.

Anyone Who Wants a Coronavirus Test Can Have One, Trump Says. Not Quite, Says His Administration.

Seems like some butt-covering. Anyone can get tested... someday. How would anyone get confused?

He didn't say a damn thing about context. He was confronted with his own words and even reminded of when and where he had said them, but still issued a flat denial anyway. Trump is a brazen liar.

Well yes, he did by explaining - while addressing Alcindor - the concerns regarding NY's hidden stock of ventilators and a NY hospital requesting 20-30 times the number of masks they normally order/use, and that is why he questions their numbers. I mentioned in the post you replied to.

OK, a case of sensationalism and a half-truth, I suppose, But if that's the thing people point to, I'd guess she's doing most things right.

but maybe there is more to the story than I can recall

She got played , hard . It was embarrassing to watch them go through with it even after they knew what was in it .

You mean with the exception of the Russiagate stuff? Or the Brett Kavanaugh nonsense? She has a crack fact-checking team, yet she put Michael Avenatti on her show multiple times. And this predates Trump, she was defending Anthony Weiner when his whole controversy blew up in 2011. Saying that his phone had been hacked by conservatives.

Not sure anyone suggested she isn't biased.

He first denied having said what she confronted him with. That was a lie.

Has any reporter asked him why he said weeks ago that "Anyone who wants a test can get a test."? I guess he might get angry and have a little self-pity rant, as usual, if they do.

Trump never willfully lies, on important matters, just to make himself look better? But if he does, I suppose it's "Both sides do it.".. just water off a ducks back, with the majority in here.

Has anybody asked the press while they are using footage from Italy when reporting on the New York “catastrophe”?

This is happening in both sides.

The CDC was telling states labs til the very end of Feb or later, that new tests were on the way. They were telling the public no worries, this is normal. The comment you reference occurred Mar 6. It is difficult to know what info Trump received in that week since CDC action plan and advice were shite to that point.

Trump hits the high points and team members - the "experts" - do the deep dive, just as the left clamors for.

How would I know... Maybe that's what they had available? What big scam is being perpetrated, other than Italy's healthcare is almost indistinguishable from our own?

Some ace reporter exposed the outrageous deceit, I suppose.

Oddly, even though I disagree with her, I find Maddow to at least be likable as opposed to somebody like Don Lemon who comes off as a complete jerk.

Well, at any rate, he gave bad information, intentional or not. If you want to watch that press event, I'll warn you, it's pretty cringe-worthy.

Hugh Hewitt was on MSNBC last night. He has turned into a Trump supporter, despite his misgivings prior ot the election.

He says he thinks Trump is better off not appearing at these conferences for a time/or that he should limit his time at them, and let the experts and professionals answer questions. The reason is that there is tension between Trump's political goal of trying to make it appear that everything is going to be fine, soon, and he deserves credit; versus the reality of the situation and the facts, which are largely negative at the moment.

He's right. It is jarring to see Trump's opening comments about how great things are going, and then the others step to the podium and paint a picture that is not nearly so rosy. And that inevitably causes the press to then question Trump's willingness to admit to the reality. If we get to a point where several thousand people or more are dying each day, and Trump is up there begging for some sort of accolades and claiming its going well, it is going to sound just terrible.

You are not alone. I have friends and family with a variety of ideologies that don't like her, although I think with some, it's the "Butch" thing.
