Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I damn sure wasn’t rooting for the pain and suffering of my fellow citizens and cheering for deaths and economic hardship. It just goes to show what type of people they really are.

The one good thing to come from this, you can now identify who people truly are. there are several on this board who I thought were respectable but they have shown their true selves.
I always try to look for the best in people. Something I was raised to do, I guess. It's getting harder and harder to do as people show their ass.

Is no secret that New Orleans is a place where good planning and execution of plans are not welcome.

Serious question is it possible that they are experiencing a spike in cases due to Mardi gras?

I have no idea.... And have no problem admitting it.

Dude stated that 137 deaths couldn't possibly have filled their morgues. He then admitted that he had no idea as to how many deaths would fill their morgue. Then defended his opinion with a personal attack re: "common sense".

Typical Trump supporter.

They set up many temp morgues and moved them as needed in trucks .

I'd say the morgues are possibly full. It has to be a bigger deal to handle the deceased if they are infected, considering the PPE requirements and such, but maybe a regular zipper bag would do.. I dunno.. I doubt the regular routine of heading to a funeral home is taking place.

Do you think that nurse is lying?

And since you obviously think he/she is, how many do they actually have that makes that statement untrue?
Yes she is. In New Orleans there has been 70 deaths. Using the surrounding area there has been 100 total. During Katrina they set up sites to hold up to 1000 people so yes it is an exaggeration that New Orleans morgues are overrun.

The headline doesn't infer any such thing. It merely paraphrases what he actually said.

You're absolutely right I'm so accustomed to seeing a similar headline with the author having the integrity to mention that Gov. Whitmer has made such a claim, I mistook if for one of them. This DBeast author settled for not disclosing it, and instead doing a drive-by: "Trump singled out the Democratic leaders of Washington and Michigan, noting that he had advised Pence not to call them as the healthcare crisis plagues their states and people fall sick and die."

My mistake!

So they should have more than 137 morgue slots?

My point is (as you admitted before) you don't know.

Therefore, your opinion on the subject should be kept to yourself until you can prove otherwise.

Stop fomenting division when you have no factual take on the matter.

And, common sense isn't nearly as common as those who think they have it would like to think.

Unless you know how many slots they have and how many bodies they have and if they have to handle C19 bodies in specific ways you're just assuming she's lying.

Per state stats an average of 42,000 people die per year in Louisiana, that’s 115 people per day and since NO is the largest metropolitan area in the state you would have to assume the majority is in NO. So say they should be able to handle 40-50 per day (and remember not every dead body goes to the morgue) they should be able to handle just in NO 137 over 3 weeks.

Your turn.

So the fact that they temporarily prepared for 1000 then (in 2005) means someone is lying now (15 years later)?

And you know how many deaths ended up in their morgues due to Katrina?

Or is it more "common sense"?

I know there was more than 137 . I know that every dead body found went through temp morgues during Katrina . Common sense tells me that if someone is saying a total of 137 state wide deaths from Coronavirus is pushing their cap. they have huge problems .

The last data I saw in 2014..... Louisiana averaged 120 deaths a day in a normal year.... so I would assume they could probably handle it.
