Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I agree, some are. Some people are only comfortable when they have a defined enemy. The basis of Trumpism.
I hate hate.
I hate hating the POTUS.
56 years of not hating the POTUS were far more preferable than these past 3 years of hating the POTUS.

You act like the removal of Trump and seating a far left Dem President will bridge the great divide in this nation. It is really comical.

I think it's hilarious how you dems are slurping all over Cuomo when his state is the epicenter of the US and the world now. You criticize Trump and place the blame on him when the governor, mayor, and health officials were claiming, just a few short weeks ago, it was nothing, to go about your normal lives, and Trump is a xenophobe for closing the US to flights from China. Now he's your effing hero. It's hilarious and sad at the same time.

That’s different.

The talk about Cuomo becoming the Dem nominee just reeks desperation.

So the former Ethiopian Health Minister is a Chinese puppet? Is that a new talking point? There were 2 declared during the h1n1 epidemic. April and October.....there were never any shortages of test either.

Yeah the leader of the WHO is a Chinese puppet and the WHO in itself is corrupt. Seriously though, what would you have done differently? Any different than Trump, what would you have done?

Donald Trump's quotes, which were cited in the article:

"He calls all the governors," Trump said. "I tell him, I mean, I'm a different type of person. I say Mike, don't call the governor of Washington, you're wasting your time with him. Don't call the woman in Michigan." Then... "If they don't treat you right, I don't call," Trump said. Also, "We have done a hell of a job," Trump said. "The federal government has really stepped up." And finally, Trump's message to governors was that he wants "them to be appreciative."

Trump is inarticulate, with a limited vocabulary and clumsy mannerisms. Therefore, it's not always easy to capture what he is trying to convey in a headline, but in this case, his quotes are consistent with the headline that was chosen.

The headline seems to be inferring aid/supplies are being withheld from certain states. MI's governor Whitmer has made an entirely unsubstantiated claim of just that. At the same time, she is claiming MI is on the same trajectory as Italy:

“The current trajectory we’re on looks a lot like Italy,” she said in her announcement.
“If we stay our current trajectory, just like Italy, over 70 percent of our people could get infected with Covid-19. Of that seven million projected, about one million of those would be hospitalized,” she said.

Italy's case/death rate is 10.5%. In effect, Whitmer is saying up to 735,000 Michiganders could die from C19.

What utterly breathless nonsense. Not only did was she derelict in her duty to prepare her state for pandemic, she transfers blame AND tries to scare the shite out of her state.

This is like Nazi Germany. This is getting out of control.

Checkpoints are up and cars are being stopped to verify why you’re on the road, where you’re going and if you have essential personnel documentation, in parts of the country already. Headed to the grocery, better have them in your car for the checkpoint going home. Folks are getting ticketed and fined for violations.

A friend sent me this info. Hope you all stay safe and healthy.

I received this information today. I hope it helps answer your question comparing the coronavirus to the flu.
Please Read....
From -JOHNS HOPKINS HOSPITAL:
Very informative.
The following is from Irene Ken physician, whose daughter is an Asst. Prof in infectious diseases at Johns Hopkins University, quite informative.
* The virus is not a living organism, but a protein molecule (DNA) covered by a protective layer of lipid (fat), which, when absorbed by the cells of the ocular, nasal or buccal mucosa, changes their genetic code. (mutation) and convert them into aggressor and multiplier cells.
* Since the virus is not a living organism but a protein molecule, it is not killed, but decays on its own. The disintegration time depends on the temperature, humidity and type of material where it lies.
* The virus is very fragile; the only thing that protects it is a thin outer layer of fat. That is why any soap or detergent is the best remedy, because the foam CUTS the FAT (that is why you have to rub so much: for 20 seconds or more, to make a lot of foam).
By dissolving the fat layer, the protein molecule disperses and breaks down on its own.
* HEAT melts fat; this is why it is so good to use water above 25 degrees Celsius for washing hands, clothes and everything. In addition, hot water makes more foam and that makes it even more useful.
* Alcohol or any mixture with alcohol over 65% DISSOLVES ANY FAT, especially the external lipid layer of the virus.
* Any mix with 1 part bleach and 5 parts water directly dissolves the protein, breaks it down from the inside.
* Oxygenated water helps long after soap, alcohol and chlorine, because peroxide dissolves the virus protein, but you have to use it pure and it hurts your skin.
* NO BACTERICIDE OR ANTIBIOTIC SERVES. The virus is not a living organism like bacteria; antibodies cannot kill what is not alive.
* NEVER shake used or unused clothing, sheets or cloth. While it is glued to a porous surface, it is very inert and disintegrates only
-between 3 hours (fabric and porous),
-4 hours (copper and wood)
-24 hours (cardboard),
- 42 hours (metal) and
-72 hours (plastic).
But if you shake it or use a feather duster, the virus molecules float in the air for up to 3 hours, and can lodge in your nose.
* The virus molecules remain very stable in external cold, or artificial as air conditioners in houses and cars.
They also need moisture to stay stable, and especially darkness. Therefore, dehumidified, dry, warm and bright environments will degrade it faster.
* UV LIGHT on any object that may contain it breaks down the virus protein. For example, to disinfect and reuse a mask is perfect. Be careful, it also breaks down collagen (which is protein) in the skin.
* The virus CANNOT go through healthy skin.
* Vinegar is NOT useful because it does not break down the protective layer of fat.
* NO SPIRITS, NOR VODKA, serve. The strongest vodka is 40% alcohol, and you need 65%.
* LISTERINE IF IT SERVES! It is 65% alcohol.
* The more confined the space, the more concentration of the virus there can be. The more open or naturally ventilated, the less.
* You have to wash your hands before and after touching mucosa, food, locks, knobs, switches, remote control, cell phone, watches, computers, desks, TV, etc. And when using the bathroom.
* You have to HUMIDIFY HANDS DRY from so much washing them, because the molecules can hide in the micro cracks. The thicker the moisturizer, the better.
* Also keep your NAILS SHORT so that the virus does not hide there.
-JOHNS HOPKINS HOSPIT
This thing is inaccurate. Lots of vodkas are more than 40% alcohol. I would imagine little to nothing else is truthful in this.

And? That doesn't change that governors are in charge of their states. They are not beholden to the President. They have the power to act on the interests of their states and do not need federal approval to do so. Hell, it's their job to act in the interest of their states. The federal government is not "mommy".

The left does not understand separation of powers between federal branches of government or between it and the state governments.

Again, you are conflating things and putting words in Whitmer's mouth that she did not say. She's pointing out that the rate of infection could be similar but not the death rate. The death rate in the US is 1.5% of those infected, not 10.5% like Italy. Try to keep up.
