Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

yeah I saw that - because they 'think' a few losers will take advantage of unemlpoyment
Yeah I don't get it. The only difference is the amount being offered for unemployment increased. The same criteria applies to receiving it. Which means if you voluntarily quit your job, no UI for you.

We strive to be an anti-oppressive and anti-fascist gym, which means that:
  • We condemn martial arts training for state violence (police officers, active duty military, ICE agents, etc).
  • We respect our training partners by not using any bigoted language or sexualizing them in the gym.
  • We also try to be communicative while were doing partner drills, i.e. ask your partner if they want more resistance, don’t just correct your partner’s technique, ask them if they want the correction.
Each class will begin with one person introducing the class and reminding everyone of the points above, as well as going around in a circle and giving your name and (if you wish) pronouns.
Each class will end with a chance to reflect. This time to reflect aims to break down any hierarchy in the class, where you can share your thoughts, feelings, and critiques without being responded to.

@Orange_Crush Imma be honest, this is the sort of gym I need in my life. It would enrage me to go to to a sparring class where the term "what's your pronoun" was used in any way that wasn't mocking. I would get violent at the mere notion of "feelings and thoughts" being expressed. It's a perfect place to slam one of these bootlickers to the ground without fear of the law hauling me off.
Eh... I don't go in for the pronoun hype, but they have every right to walk that road if that's the road they want.

I'd never go to that gym, though.

I have decades of martial art and combatives training. I'm a certified instructor in several. While I believe that it's stupid to abuse your partner, and there's quick reprisals for not respecting them, I also believe that you fight the way you practice. If you're trained to tell your opponent how much pressure they're allowed to apply, you're being trained to get killed. And if you don't want to be corrected, don't ask me to teach you. I'm doing you a disservice by giving you a false sense of confidence.

My 2 pence.

I hope you're well, and stay that way.

Screw this stimulus. Several in congress and the Senate have absolutely shown their A$$es with this. Several (this includes both sides) have shown that they do not have American's interests at heart but their own political interests.

I absolutely feel for those who are going to lose their jobs through this crisis and this/any bill drafted for relief should have 100% focused on those individuals and the businesses that are going to be lacking. There should have been nothing else. At this time when we are going to see an intense spike in unemployment I don't believe anyone is going to be giving a damn about airplane emissions, the green new deal and other concessions that are part of these proposals.

Can you believe that if you made between $75k and $95k last year that you will get the $2,000 but will have to pay it back next tax season? What if you made that much last year and lost your job? What if you made for instance $100k last year and lost your job? You are getting ZERO assistance.

I hope there is a decent individual in congress that can step up for what is right and nuke this thing into oblivion! They need to help all that are going to be affected by this and leave all of their other special interest crap out.

I am absolutely embarrassed by our Congress and Senate.

If you lose your job, you get unemployment from the state plus up to $600 a week from the Feds, is my understanding of the current legislation.

Correct. This is a good part if the legislation. I checked TN's unemployment website out of curiosity, and weekly UI benefits are capped at $275. That extra $600 weekly will be the difference in folks keeping their homes if they are laid off.

Correct, some will/could get more money on unemployment than actually working! Our Politicians want individuals to be dependent on the Government! It is easy to control anyone in such a manner!!

Yeah and the way I understand it is that would pay some people more than what they get from working and that's Graham and some others objections.

That ladyman with the flower hat would be the first one to dip at the first sign of trouble, guaranteed.
Is that a common theme in gay porn? Trouble?

To be honest, I didnt watch the video past 30 seconds. 2 guys with lisps in less than a minute I'm immediately thinking this is a trick.

Had a video sent to me at work last week..a chick carving a carrot into a flute..I was totally enthralled, ready to see this sucker work. Odd..the audio was REALLY low..cranked my phone up..BOOM Female orgasm sound that everyone heard.. Most embarrassing moment of my life. Right then and there I knew that my internet acumen was gone, and I am old.

You have to be fired for something besides misconduct, laid off, or quarantined by a physician to receive UI benefits. If you just quit your job, you can not draw. This changes nothing except the amount allocated increased. You also have to show proof of looking for work to remain on UI.

Graham and friends are very wrong on the above point. Now if they want to cap UI benefits based on prior salary, I don't have a problem with that.

It provides an incentive to companies to lay people off and for those laid off not to look for work. Nobody should get more from unemployment than they normally make working.

PLUS it's rare that UI is denied.
