President Donald Trump on January 22nd: "No. Not at all. And - we're - we have it totally under control. It's one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It's going to be just fine." (when he was asked by a CNBC reporter if he was concerned about the Coronavirus becoming a pandemic)
Back up a bit.
Jan. 2: Chinese researchers
map the new coronavirus' complete genetic information. This information is
not made public until Jan. 9.
Jan. 14: WHO announces Chinese authorities have seen "no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus."
Jan. 15: The patient who becomes the first confirmed U.S. case leaves Wuhan and
arrives in the U.S., carrying the coronavirus.
Jan. 19: Beijing sends epidemiologists to Wuhan.
Jan. 20: Zhong Nanshan, a top Chinese doctor who is helping to coordinate the coronavirus response, announces the virus can be passed between people.
Jan. 21: The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirms the first coronavirus case in the United States.
Jan. 22: Now we can refer to Trump's comment with some context. CCP flagship newspaper People’s Daily
mentions the coronavirus epidemic and Xi's actions to fight it for the first time.
Jan. 23: Wuhan and three other cities are put on lockdown. Right around this time, approximately 5 million people leave the city without being screened for the illness.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jan. 24–30: China celebrates the Lunar New Year holiday. Hundreds of millions of people are in transit around the country as they visit relatives.
Amid criticism that Beijing was not being transparent, Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was effusive in praise;
“The continued increase in cases and the evidence of human-to-human transmission outside China are of course both deeply concerning,” said Tedros. “Although the numbers outside China are still relatively small, they hold the potential for a much larger outbreak,” he continued. “
For that, China deserves our gratitude and respect … China is implementing very serious measures and we cannot ask for more.”
“China has been completely committed to transparency, both internally and externally, and has agreed to work with other countries that need support,...“The level of commitment (of the leadership) in China is incredible; I
will praise China again and again, because its actions actually helped in reducing the spread of the novel coronavirus to other countries … we shall tell the truth and that’s the truth,” he concluded."
“The epidemic is a demon and we cannot let this demon hide,”
Xi Jinping said this week. “The Chinese government has always adopted an open, transparent and responsible attitude to the timely release of information on the epidemic, domestically and to other countries.”
Gee, these guys sound like brothers.

------------------------------------
President Donald Trump on January 30th: "We think we have it very well under control. We have very little problem at this moment - five - and those people are all recuperating successfully. But we're working very closely with China and other countries, and we think it's going to have a very good ending for us ... that I can assure you."
And that was accurate; the WHO didn't declare a Public Health Emergency of International Concern until this day. The first U.S. case was just one week prior and the U.S. would not record a related death until Febuary 29th. The WHO was telling the world what a awesome job China was doing, and our agencies, nor any other countries, should have not listened to WHO or China.
Jan 27: Trump announces travel ban of China
Jan 30: WHO declares a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
Jan 31: Trump declares a Public Health Emergency.

Feb: 29, the CDC announces first person in U.S. to die of COVID-19-related illness.
President Donald Trump on March 7th: "No, I'm not concerned at all. No, we've done a great job with it." (when asked if he was concerned about the virus showing in Washington D.C.)
Yes, he should have thrown the CDC under the bus since they took us from Feb 4 into March with no test, and FDA for granting that exclusive to them. But we might just need them and the quivering masses of leftist jelly would whimper "Look! he's blaming the poor CDC and FDA - the bastard!!
This is what we heard from the CDC during Feb:
A faulty CDC coronavirus test delays monitoring of the disease's spread
During that critical interval, the CDC repeatedly assured the public that progress was being made, even as public health officials around the country began to raise alarms about the shortage of tests.
- In January, CDC officials boasted during the coronavirus briefings that the United States has “one of the strongest public health systems in the world.”
- Feb. 12, Messonnier said “rapid development of a diagnostic and rapid deployment to the states” is “clearly a success.”
- Feb. 14, she said: “We can be proud. … We moved quickly.”
- Feb. 21, Messonnier acknowledged problems with the testing kits, but described the issues as “normal.”

...and finally, we get to this gem:
President Donald Trump on March 17th: "
This is a pandemic. I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic. All you had to do was look at other countries. No, I've always viewed it as very serious."
I post this to not only show how brutally inarticulate that Trump is, but also what a flat out liar he is. It's okay, though. Trump's legion of fanboys, some of whom post to this forum, will accept his lie at face value. Yeah, you called it all along, Donald. It's a pandemic.
