Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

If you think that Sen. Lamar Alexander didn't get clearance from Sen. Mitch McConnell to release that statement then you are in denial of how things work in the Senate. It is likely that the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, helped to draft it and that statement does nothing but assert what the established facts are. Senate Republicans didn't want John Bolton to testify because they knew it would only serve to reinforce the belief that Trump withheld aid to the Ukraine in order to encourage an investigation into the Bidens.

Also, it is delusional to say that Trump didn't take an active part of an investigation into the Bidens when he not only withheld aid to encourage it, but openly spoke about such an investigation on the July 25th phone call.

You are just another Trump fanboy spouting unconditional support. It's fealty on top of being delusional.
I think Trump is a low character bully. I just also know that he's the president that's endured underhanded political BS because the other team lost.

Now... Try to keep up. I don't care what opinions you post. And that's all you're doing...posting an opinion, assuming who may agree with it, and explaining away the lack of evidence that would help your argument.

I'll repeat. I listened to every second of the testimony, and it all came down to hearsay and assumption. Period. There's a reason you're quoting an opinion about the evidence, inventing supposed agreement about that opinion, explaining away the lack of evidence, attacking me in the absence of evidence, and then begging the question that the evidence didn't prove.

You're just a hypocritical lefty that's cheered on the 3 years political witch hunt from Dems who promised to impeach Trump before he took his oath, and now clutches your pearls that Trump recommended Biden be investigated.

Well, you do decla'ya.

I think he knows that Easter has something to do with Jesus, and by bringing it up, it increases the chances of that miracle Trump prophesied coming to fruition.
We'll be back to work in most of the country before Easter-not because of an Easter miracle, but because we've been blessed to have a real leader from day one, the miracle took place when Donald J. Trump was elected/sworn in. There will be "hot spots" maybe states, NY and CA, but the rest of country will go back to work. You know work? It's what most republicans do.

So, Trump was lying about the miracle too? bummer, but predictable...

HAHAHAHAHAHA, GOOD ONE, actually I think you know he never said that in his 3/24/2020 town hall meeting, you're just being what dems are, hahahahahaha, but I got to hand it to you, your mama taught you well.

The Easter thing isnt happening. I know he is trying to bring some hope, but I dont see it.

I dont believe in our response on this, that said, it is what is. And the numbers are about to jump (because that is what viruses do). When daily deaths hit 3 and maybe 4 digits per day, the already frail minded are going to double down on the fear. We are probably approaching the peak at Easter, not living on the slide.

I was saying that I copied the link from the AJC website and quoted the first paragraph.
I went on to say that your accusation of me being a liar was absurd, seeing as how I had actually said nothing; only posted a link and quoted from the article.

I don't know what the disconnect is - perhaps AJC changed their headline for the article - but the link is Trump hopeful of national coronavirus recovery by Easter, not the BREAKING: Trump sets Easter deadline for national coronavirus recovery link you posted.

It appeared as if you had edited the link to be sensational.

You sir are 1000% correct. But if you shut it down for a few weeks, does that make it a Depression? Answer: NO, unless the shutdown also magically changed the definition of a Depression. It won't turn the country into a Big Red Fire Truck, unless of course during the shut down the definition has changed. After next week, we will be in the second week, you're getting way ahead of yourself here when you say "maybe months" why not years? I'll be shocked if the 15 day stand down for the health needs of the country, goes longer than that across the entire country. I'm guessing next week, the new medications will treat those infected-very well, the death rate will plunge as more testing is done. Most of the Red Chinese Bat Soup Virus is in NY, CA and WA. The rest of country isn't seeing "mass deaths", and btw, NY, CA and WA are not seeing "mass deaths" either. We have lost far more people from the flu. The dems are beside themselves, they hope for a Terrible recession, and huge numbers of Americans falling over dead from the virus-and they just don't care, as long as it will help them get back in to power.
This could be a depression once it meets the definition. Just because we dont know yet what this is, doesnt definitively make it not a depression. You're being awfully pedantic about something you cant even definitively define.

Republican senator John Kennedy says people drinking too much at Mardi Gras caused the rapid spread of coronavirus in Louisiana and slams China for 'worrying more about their image than the world's health'

Louisiana Senator John Kennedy declared that people drinking during Mardi Gras caused coronavirus to spread in the state as they had weaker immune systems when they contracted the virus.

The Republican senator also slammed China for being 'worried about their image', claiming the country was not concerned about the 'world's health' when sharing how severe the virus is.

Kennedy then blamed the lack of information as to why people were so willing to travel to New Orleans to take part in the boisterous activities towards the end of February.

'We're a hot spot,' the conservative politician said in a segment with Fox News. 'It started in New Orleans. It's moving into the rest of the state.'

He continued: 'I think it has a lot to do with Mardi Gras. I think our friends in China were worried about their image more than the world's health and sat on the news about this virus for longer than they should have.

I see the confusion. I guess they did change it. When I copied and pasted the link it had only been out 7 minutes. I must admit, the headline caught my eye.
The AJC, Tennessean, CNN, and a couple of smaller local sites are what I cycle through whenever I have a few minutes.

We have been over this before, and I don't wish to re-hash it further, and have to read another one of your unabridged dissertations. Reading the phone book is less tedious than reading through your long-winded tripe. As Sen. Lamar Alexander wrote in his statement of impeachment, President Donald Trump did withhold military aid to the Ukraine, at least in part, to encourage President Zelensky to begin an investigation into Joe Biden. I understand what President Zelensky has said publicly. I also understand that is what he has to say while Donald Trump is still in office. President Zelensky's country is at war with Russia and he needs support from the United States. President Zelensky does not want to be in the middle of the mess that is American politics. That is understandable. In this case, we should do what Sen. Lamar Alexander did. That is, examine the facts for ourselves. Yes, President Donald Trump was pressuring President Zelensky to at least announce that he was investigating the Bidens for corruption.

Finally, and once again.... Joe Biden, just like every American citizen, is entitled to equal protection under the law. He could not have been accorded equal protection under the law with his political opponent in the 2020 general election directing an investigation into him. If sufficient cause exists to conduct an investigation into either Joe Biden or his son, Hunter (or both), then such an investigation should commence. However, the investigation should not include President Donald Trump who obviously has a fundamental conflict of interest at hand and too much to gain professionally from the outcome of such an investigation. This is common sense. The United States is not a banana republic. We can not have our President directing investigations into those who dare to run against him.

My long-winded tripe is Alexander's comments; you brought it up. Hope that's short enough.

You "understand" what you want it to be. You can't pressure someone who doesn't feel pressured and who, unlike with Biden, hasn't threatened you with no aid. Nor can 3rd-party persons like yourself, appropriate and feel pressure for Zelensky. Biden has equal protection. The investigations into it are conducted by congress and DOJ. So tell me exactly how Trump is "directing" an investigation?

Try to shorten it up a bit, would you?

It's almost like they learned from watching Republican during the last administration. The gloves are off for the rest of America's days and neither side is going to put them back on. Get used to it.

Town hall meeting? I guess he's suggested that more than twice, then.

What part of that didn't you understand?

Now do Biden, that should be really interesting.

President Zelensky had a scheduled appearance on CNN in late August, where presumably, he was going to comply with Trump's demand of announcing an investigation into the Bidens. So, he not only felt pressure, but he was about to give into it. Per Olena Zerkal, the deputy foreign minister for the Ukraine, President Zelensky was also well aware of the hold on the military aid prior to the July 25th phone call and Zelensky knew what he had to do in order to have the hold lifted. I know that flies in the face of one of Trump's main talking points but it is the truth.

My daughter said her AF base has been pretty strict, so I'm hopeful for her.
The Theodore Roosevelt has 3 cases. The ship has 5,000 sailors. There was a soldier on fort Hood who had symptoms. He went to sick call and they gave him a mask and sent him back to duty.
