Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Italy went from zones being locked down in early Mar to nationwide lockdown around Mar 13; it's reasonable to attribute the decline to it. Without containment and likely at least a year from vaccine, we don't know deaths would have occurred. Even if it turns out far less deadly than it might have, we can't say in hindsight that the wrong thing was done.

Taiwan is an example of how "expert" adulation is never wise. Despite being locked out of WHO access by Beijing, they may have quietly had the most effective response of any nation/entity. By NOT believing the WHO's downplaying of the virus and lauding of Beijing - who's been lying to the world - their own very early response resulted in containment without lockdown. That doesn't mean we'd be able to emulate them, however, due to the vast privacy and liberties protections we have in place.

In fairness Taiwan is an island a little bigger than Maryland with the population of FL. Not that your observations don't have merit but the context is a bit different than most places.

It's a simple fact that we can't stay shut down and that it will likely come down to "now? or three days from now?"

It's how we exercise logic "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" without losing our humanity; do we broadly destroy the economy and countless lives, or accept that some are going to perish to preserve far more lives. It's an easy equation but an awful decision.

Resorting to just outright lying now, Luth? Even the article you reference doesn't say that and Trump certainly didn't. You're pathetic.

Since your propaganda aligns with the CCP, turn in your America card.

You are divorced from reality.

"I'd love to have it open by Easter, OK? I would love to have it open by Easter. I will tell you that right now," Trump said during a virtual town hall event on Fox News.

'I'd love to have it open by Easter': Trump says he wants to restart economy by mid-April

And I would love to be a billionaire but that doesn't mean I'm going to be a billionaire. What the left can't stand is Trump is trying to remain positive which is what leaders do vs. preaching doom and gloom.

I am not as sure as you that the science supports that it will just be a few.

So Pelosi impeached our President because she thought he held up aid to Ukraine but now she holds up aid to Americans.
Not exactly. Trump was impeached because he held up aid to the Ukraine in order to use the aid as leverage against their government leadership's willingness to perform a campaign favor for him.

He probably got blow back from this comment yesterday...

“You can’t stop the economy forever,” Mr. Cuomo said in a news conference on Monday. “So we have to start to think about does everyone stay out of work? Should young people go back to work sooner? Can we test for those who had the virus, resolved, and are now immune and can they start to go back to work?”

Continuity and perspective. The government has continuity set even in case of nuclear war. We will go on. Our Republic, the greatest illusion ever seen by the world, goes on because of belief, in the system and documents that made our country. Without this belief, it all crumbles. We teeter on this line and the only thing making it keep going is our belief in it.

Take away resources, and the ability to have abundant food and groceries and restaurants and remove any and all accustomed luxuries from our overly spoiled life styles then talk to me about Man's codified laws and systems and righteousness and humanity. They will not exist.

Man's ego, his inability to accept his mortality, and his inability to have perspective relative to the planet, let alone universe and his place in it, makes it easy to see the ridiculousness in "I'm important and my life matters"..... complete hogwash.

We made it through much worse epidemics, with much less technology and resources and information, and life went on.

The thing this outbreak has shown is just how pathetic and scared "Man" is. Ultimately, life will go on, with or without any of us.

I haven't seen him walk that back. This is likely a response to the TX LT Gov comments

Definitely going to be a local decision. NYC certainly will not be "open" by Easter. Other places probably will.
That is how it should be - a state-level decision. There is no reason for Wyoming to be on lockdown just because California and New York are. Trump shouldn't be telling any governors what to do, however.
