Good news, my job is considered essential in Memphis.

Bad news, after getting a yearly review and finding out how much salary increase I was getting 2 weeks ago. Today was told no salary increase for anyone. This after finding out about the idiot who went on the cruise...
Same. Lucky Us.

Hey all my North Carolina VOL brothers and sisters. I'm a Firefighter/AEMT and today was informed from our county's emergency management that North Carolina is looking at shutting down all non essential stores, places and travel, much like wake county has. Rumor coming from state EM is an announcement as early as Wednesday.

Not trying to scare you or add to some of the panic with rumors because nothing official has come across my desk. Just thought y'all would like a heads up.
Take care, don't lick door knobs 😛, and for the love of all things holy wash your ******* hands (next week we'll start working on shapes and colors).

This has been you friendly neighborhood fireman saying "you stay classy volnation".

Dangit. Had plans to be in Knoxville this weekend to see the wife, my family, and celebrate my birthday. I understand the reason, but I also don't want it to happen so I can see my wife again.

my mom was slated to retire in the next few months. i don't think she's been brave enough to look whats happened, though. sucks.
Did she have a financial advisor? Did she still have a lot of her money tied up in equities? She should have had most of her money in bonds since she is close to retirement. They are down a little, too, but nothing to the extreme that equities are.

I thought the whole state was already doing it, not just us in Wake county. smh

1. Why do you write the $ at the end?

2. That doesn’t seem like a lot considering the sharpe decline

1. I don't know..I ain't that smart, and besides I was just rambling on here because I was trying to get my mind off of losses that hurt a lot worse than money.

2. That may not be much to you, but it is a small fortune to me. Like I said, it was more than I made last year.

Yeah...the total was mind blowing...but I don't need the money right now because we also got a large life insurance disbursement to live on through this disaster.

So...I just have to decide where and how we are going to invest it. We are going to talk with mom's investment people that will have our portfolio and probably leave it in their hands. The shares are equally split among us, and then each one of us can do what we want with our shares..I may be dumb, but I ain't dumb enough to cash out in the worst Bear market I have ever seen.

Dick pound lmao
Worked for a home medical equipment provider several years ago where I did the purchasing of equipment and supplies. Had a tall, middle-aged man come in one day with a script for a penis vacuum pump. I explained to him that that item was not stocked but I could order and he would have to pay total cost since his insurance would not pay. I showed him a few options from my catalogs and he had me order him a pretty expensive high end one. Here is where it starts to get funny. I had to get his full name and address etc for shipping purposes. Name was Richard N. Hand. He was a farmer up in the Westmoreland area and primarily raised sheep and goats. Fast forward about three weeks and he came back in to see me to order him a 2nd exact model. I asked him if the 1st one wasn't working or what the issue was. He told me it was working great and he just wanted a 2nd one to keep in the shed on the back of his farm! I kid you not!

Happy who for a season may absent themselves on buoyant wing!

The birds that Winter drives away,
Will surely come again with Spring.

They of our ills will mindful be,
And when at length the storm has passed,

They will return to this same tree,
Which has so often felt the blast.

Then to our fertile vale will they,
a more auspicious presage bring!

The birds that Winter drives away,
Will surely come again with Spring.

-Pierre-Jean de Béranger

I saw this poem, and thought it was appropriate for our collective mental state..maybe it will brighten your thoughts for a moment..it did mine.

Walked out on the back porch a few minutes ago sipping a cup of coffee and watched a bunch of purple martins flying around and then noticed a beautiful male cardinal sitting on a limb in a tree about 20 yards away.

Guess I'll spend today finishing up work on a 80 year old cedar armoire my wife brought home with her a few months ago from he grandparent's house in Abingdon . We stripped it and have refinished it. Just have to put the doors and associated hardware back on it and then we'll have to make a decision where to put it.

1. I never understood why you put the dollar sign first when it's verbally said the number followed by dollars.

2. You haven't lost any money yet. It's all theoretical and on paper. You will only have lost money when you sell those stocks.

If I were you, I'd keep all that stock right where it is and when the market bounces back as it surely will, you will be just fine.
