Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

GTFO with this rational and reasonable perspective. It has no place in this country.

In all seriousness, I agree. With somebody in your situation, be smart and diligent. But by all means, we should stop with the panic and economic suicide.
I will say this. If I was still in business, I would be open to the public as usual.

Come to Virginia , the governor is urging us to get out in the sunshine . I know where there’s an open Taco Bell and our liquor stores are still open .

And when you go there I’d almost guarantee you’re at least cognizant of our current situation and take at least some measures to minimize your risk. In Cali, Illinois, and NYC there’s idiots who do not.

Weren’t you advocating for drastic actions by our governments just a week or so ago?
Indeed I was. And I think leaders of large companies are pushing the president in this direction. They know a death by a thousand cuts is likely for many in the restaurant, hotel, resort, and airline companies. They are saying let us bleed badly for a month. A long drawn out process is far worse. The six largest restaurant companies employ 5 hundred thousand people. Yes they are looking out for their best interests.

I know we are in total agreement on all this.

I feel numb from the stupidity I am witnessing. The entire world leadership got shamed, pressured, whatever. Unbelievable.
I sincerely hope you're right and they are wrong. Either there is something very different about this bug they aren't talking about or it is being blown out of proportion. Not sure what I believe at this point, the toll this is taking on the economy and lives damn well better stack up to the measures being taken thus far.

Pray? I do. But what prayer?

God would laugh at how stupid the behavior is. Go to work. Go out to eat. You dont need God to make that happen.
Trouble reading? Pray that the economic and health crisis ends. You can think it’s not a health one. But you have your head in the sand if you don’t think it’s an economic one.

Oh I KNOW it is an economic one. That is the sole reason I live in this thread.

God is not holding anyone back from participating in normal daily life. That is your fear. Not God.

They are short sighted. This isn’t going to be a one hit wonder, there will be a second wave and possibly a 3rd one. God forbid this turns out to be seasonal like the flu. They might have killed the economy out of fear instead of waiting for data.

No ****ing way I’m “okay” with it. If you can accept the .gov ruling your daily life and eliminating your free will you will be “okay” with them eliminating your right to vote. Hell you don’t deserve the right if you’re willing to give up free will.
I had already joined up but when I was 19 the government was telling many of my friends to leave home, take up arms and go fight a foreign enemy. Do you know what? Every single one of them did it. They could have exercised their free will but they would have gone to jail. This inconvenience is really nothing.

It’s pretty laid back here , there’s less traffic on 64 and in town later at night but other than signs on the doors telling about store hour adjustments , you really can’t tell there’s much going on . There seems to be more people out walking their dogs and walking in general in the evening . Could just be the 80 degree weather.

We have officially been instructed to work from home until further notice. I do mostly office work and I can teleconference most my meetings so I will be fine. But I really do feel for anybody that can’t and is losing a paycheck over this nonsense.

I ordered a pizza yesterday from a local mom and pop restaurant that has gone to delivery only and spotted the delivery guy a $20 bill. It’s the least I could do and wish I could have given him more. I wish I could go to a bar and show some business but they are all closed near me.

Already over this and ready to get back to normal.

I don’t disagree about your theory on the second and third wave.

This! It’s an election year and the worse thing possible for a politician would be seen as doing nothing. Re-election is their upmost priority regardless of the cost.
