300 or so people in Gallatin losing their jobs over the next couple days. Good job chicken littles
Trump might just as well resign. He can't win. If he errs on the side of caution, and the economy tanks, he will be accused of wrecking the economy and putting people out of work. He will be accused of being a racist for shutting down travel and borders. He will be accused of being a Nazi because of an overreach of his power.

If he errs on the side of the economy, the media will say he has blood on his hands for letting people die, or that he is propping up his rich business friends, by allowing them to be open and spread disease. If he tries to help the people that the government put out of work, he will be accused of exploding the deficit and debt. I think he needs to choose his poison, and tell D.C. to f*** off after next January.

Gas was $1.48 at Sam's in Knox today.
It will be cheaper. It doesn't go down nearly as fast as it goes up. I was told by someone in the know, that the wholesale price was dirt cheap, and that Pilot was making 75 cents a gallon right now, which is several times the normal markup.

Spot on, he needs to have an address to the nation and give us the facts and tell everyone to f’ing relax and go back to work. And if he loses the election over that so be it, because right now he’s playing into the chaos and I don’t get why

Honestly the Danish have picked a fairly pragmatic route but one has to winder if it works here.

Lock down anyone over the age of 70 and let the 18-69 (nice) crowd go out, get sick, stimulate the economy and let this thing peak early and hard, but run its course quicker.
Sounds like a reasonable approach if one develops immunity.

Do we know that yet or is there still chance of reinfection? I honestly can't say. It's hard to tell with all the misinformation and fake experts

Agreed. I did not fill up today either. It was three cars deep on every pump and I wasn't empty.

If you have no fever and no shortness of breath I’d guess you don’t have it. There’s a lot of stuff going around right now other than this virus and that’s making this all the worse because people that have a cold or something else think they have the virus. I’m not saying this to be a jerk. I’m just sharing my opinion, as all are on here. UAB actually has a flow chart that is pretty cool.
Sorting out symptoms of COVID-19, influenza, colds and allergies - News
You may very well be right. In any case it was an easy decision to decline the request to be tested which was extended by the clinic after reviewing my response to their e-visit questionnaire. Tonight I am now having to deal with the fact that wife and daughter just returned from being forced by Georgetown University to travel to DC simply to clean out a dorm room. Which I tried to convince them not to do. So my self-quarantine will continue for awhile as we monitor wife and daughter for symptoms over the next week or two.

Here's a Matlab plot I generated of what I'm afraid is going to happen with the current approach we're using in the US. The curve on the left is right now with everyone staying at home as much as possible. However, the one on the right is after the quarantines and closures have been lifted, causing a massive secondary spike in the number of COVID-19 cases over a shorter period of time.

We can't keep everything locked down for too long without sparking not only a recession, but possibly a global depression, so this secondary spike is inevitable IMO.

Sorry, couldn’t help it.

That sucks man. I wish the best for you and your family including a speedy recovery for you and clean bill of health for them.
