Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

Some perspective on Italy’s COVID-19 death toll.

Less than 1% of deaths had no existing illness. 99% had an existing condition before and succumbed to that. Over half the deaths had 3 or more underlying conditions. According to these stats, nobody under 30 has died as of yesterday.

You don't think with the obesity problem in this country combined with diabetes and high blood pressure doesn't make a vast majority of our population prime targets for critical cases?

I’ve read a lot about ppl not wanting to limit their activities and such on here. And I do understand that. I have also read about the complaints about not everyone can get tested, only if one meets certain criteria.

From a healthcare worker in a leadership role at my hospital, he’s the information that I can relay to everyone.

On point 1: ppl are being asked to limit contact and activity because we are trying to flatten the bell curve for the virus. It is inevitable that this is going to be widespread and potentially life threatening for a lot of ppl. By flattening the bell curve, we are attempting to keep as many ppl healthy for as long as possible. If it’s not flattened, and many, many ppl get sick at the same time, we will have a situation like Italy where decisions had to be made on who lived and who died, simply because the healthcare system was overwhelmed.

Point 2: currently, results on tests from independent labs are coming back in 3-5 days. Tests sent to the state are taking even longer. These are tests being done on those that meet the cdc criteria. As the testing situation is currently, if anyone that wanted a test got tested, it would completely cripple those labs. There are things being done to help alleviate the burden, but that is how it stands today.

Anyway, just thought I’d share. Everyone protect yourselves and stay safe.

EDIT: Didn’t see above cartoon till after I posted. Haha.

Here's what the story says about that:

"Burr was one of just three senators who in 2012 opposed the bill that explicitly barred lawmakers and their staff from using nonpublic information for trades and required regular disclosure of those trades. In opposing the bill, Burr argued at the time that insider trading laws already applied to members of Congress. President Barack Obama signed the bill, known as the STOCK Act, that year."

They should prosecute him plain and simple.

Just gonna say as a witness on the frontlines that it's ugly for both and everyone is clamoring for relief.
I was in a restaurant today for the first time this week. The rest of the week has been non stop phone calls. It was damn heartbreaking seeing a empty dinning room and only two employees working.
