Welp...my wife is out of work, and her job will not come back if they are going to go by that Imperial college report. The governor of Kentucky shut down all adult day care centers for at least the next two weeks, but that is bullcrap, they are not going to allow them to open back up anytime for the next 6 month to a year...Her company will not survive.

I work for a small Medicaid transit sub-contractor with 7 employees. The regional broker we work for (R-Tec) told us yesterday that all non-priority rides have been canceled indefinitely..so I may get to work occasionally, but just going off the last five work days as a example...I will be extremely fortunate to work 2-3 days a week.

As I said earlier today, I will be alright, but this is an economic catastrophe for millions of others, including so many of my friends and family...

I don't even know what to say..

Since I'm sure most didn't read this, the study suggests with no social distancing or school closure or anything else, there would be 2,200,000 dead in the U.S. That's 2.2 million. The ICU beds required is many times more than U.S. capacity.

The economic impact was happening one way or the other. That doesn't make it suck any less, but the alternative was worse.

Another sobering part of this study is what happens even with enormous socially and economically impactful interventions for less than a few months. The introduction of pharmaceutical therapies would be a very welcome development.
Thanks for the book report! And btw you was right I didn’t read it. Lol

This is awesome and great parenting

you can tell who the creative folks are now....they have time to do their thing. i have some former neighbors that are doing a series right now facebook on their ordeal at home and it's hilarious......

they crank called American Airlines on one of them and tried to negotiate air line tickets to Las Vegas for $4..........LOL.....

He got apologized for tons during his MVP season. Lots of “just enjoys the game” and “has fun playing football” quotes. Sucks up the Super Bowl and resulting seasons and his funny hats started looking goofy.
there's truth in that too. but really, the folks that were giving him a hard time before the super bowl, were the same ones doing it after. they just had a little ammo with how that game went, and the post game.

and for Cam, he's got to have better situational awareness in those situations....people think what they think, and not a whole lot changes minds.

he's polarizing in Charlotte, has been since he got here, and it hasn't mattered what he's done on or off the field for many, espeically the ones that just don't like him.

anyway, he's an odd duck, marches to his own beat, and peronsally, i'm not fan of his fashion sense or anything close to being related to drama with him good or bad.

but he's never once gotten in trouble for anything since he's been here, and he's been nothing but more than gracious with time/money/resources in the Charlotte and Atlanta communitities.....

i think people are naive if they don't think race plays in to it some. i know it does....i hear it. it's not for everyone though. for some, its' the stuff at FL and/or the MSU/Auburn bidding war etc....

either way.........i'll leave it at this...he was a whole lot easier to defend when he didn't suck out loud....lol. wish he was staying, hope he does well wherever he winds up.

Good post. I think a lot of his play slipping was he was injured and never really recovered. Him and Andrew luck both took beatings. Hopefully he’s healthy now and gets rid of the ball quicker.

hahahaha....that was pretty good. really liked the Kurt Cobain one...lol....and Red Dawn....totally appropriate.

Except that Patrick Swayze, the leader of the Wolverines, was a Boomer, having been born in 1952.

Showing everyone that the country still needs us Boomers to lead the way.

it's really not though.

hank takes being what they are, this one isn't wrong.
You're the only Panther fan I know here. I have a few friends in a grouptext that are as well and they have varying opinions.

What do you think of how this team is forming? I find the prospect of Rhule + Brady + Teddy (who worked with Brady for a year, so Brady knows what he's getting imo) to be pretty intriguing.

I am so sick of this garbage being brought up..it does nothing but piss people like me off...And I still believe it is bullcrap. That is not the reason for anybody I know that dislikes him. He has a distasteful personality to a lot of people, and it has not a damn thing to do with race outside of a few fringe freaks.

I don't like him, or Gronk for that matter, and race doesn't have a dang thing to do with it...so don't throw that stupid card out there..

The said at the press conference today not to give into press hysteria. Tests are now being given out, and because of that new cases will shoot up. But not to panic because that is to be expected. The death rate will lower as the amount of tests shoot up.

She also said that younger people do not need to be concerned and most will pass it without many problems. It's just that the younger folks need to isolate to protect the elderly.
and to not strain your local healthcare system. the worry as i see it, is if every tom, dick and harry goes to the emergency room cause they think they have it, then good luck if you acually need real medical care, covid related or not..............

so if no symptoms and not sick....stay put.

i'm willing to bet at some point in the probably not so distant future, there'll be screening opportunities for general population.....right now it's just about finding out what we're actually dealing with.

anyone not sick, stay put....eventually get screened, and handle it from there with additional self quarantine, or treatment if neded.

not trying to oversimplify, but really, that's what they're trying to accomplish right now, with longer term goal of ending the spread....by screening and isolating carriers....but we're not there yet.

totally agree on the spike in reported cases...no way around not seeing it rise once more testing became available, and as that continues to be the case, i'd expect the case #'s to hopefully steady out some, and as they say, flatten the curve....it's gotta go up beofre it can go down.

Hate it for you man. So many companies will go under and so many jobs will be lost over this. The only brightside I can think of is that there will be a lot of opportunities for small business owners once the smoke clears because the market for a lot of services will be much much less saturated.

How’s everyone doing with home schooling? Pretty sure our kids have sharpened their fort nite skills so far and that’s about it! Lol
fine here. had a little trouble getting the youngest set up yesterday, but we're all good now. they've both got a relatively structured morning right now...and the way both their schools have it set up, they could go on like this for a while if need be.

me...i need to get out of the house. if i hear another barking dog, i might get my gun......

As previously mentioned in a post above, the UK forecast likely had lots to do with major moves in policy in the US.
UK modeling

Also concerning is the trajectory of cases. I received the following spreadsheet a few days ago. It is based on data compiled by Johns Hopkins. It shows that we are on the same track as Italy, roughly 10 or 11 days behind in terms of total numbers (though with far more widespread cases geographically, and with areas that have likely had more prolonged unrecognized community spread).

View attachment 266977

If you're wondering about current data, the Johns Hopkins website as I write this on 3/17 lists 6362 confirmed infections and 108 deaths in the US. The main point, though, is that we are on much more of an Italy/France/Spain slope as opposed to South Korea. I don't know, but would suspect that the higher number of deaths in Italy is due to two effects: an older population at baseline, and a health system that is was already beginning to be overwhelmed by the analogous March 6th date (matching the March 17th date in the US).

As for things that you can do individually to lessen risk, there is a some emerging evidence that use of Ibuprofen or other NSAIDs, ACE inhibitors (ACE list) or Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARBs - an alternative to ACE inhibitors) (ARB list) may increase overall risk for bad outcomes with COVID-19. The thinking is that these medications all increase ACE2 expression. ACE2 happens to be the receptor that the virus attaches to, causing infection. More receptors equals a higher viral burden with initial exposure. Might be worth a discussion with your doctor if you are in an at-risk group to switch to a different medication for basic pain control or blood pressure control for the next few months.

Since I wrote this last night, have seen guidance from WHO to specifically avoid ibuprofen for symptom control if you have symptoms that may be due to COVID.

ACE and ARB remain more of an open question, as there is some animal model evidence that ACE2 is upregulated with these medications, but not a lot of data in humans (probably not a lot of healthy adults volunteering for pre- and post-medication heart and lung biopsies to add to existing data). For now, the cardiologists are recommending that people stay the course with these medications until more data is available. As more of the data from the pandemic gets crunched, I am sure that someone will sift through to try to tease this out of the data, hopefully sooner rather than later. I'll update when I hear anything more definitive.

it's intriguing, and i wasn't against the hire at all.

i'm not sure i like what they're doing from a roster standpoint. it's been very wish washy lately on what the direction seems to be.

Tepper being a new owner, he's very aggressive and has not been shy about inserting himself in to the operation....there's been some things i've liked, and some not. still early to judge him though......

as for the near future, i don't have any real expectation at this point. we still don't have a very good OL, we lost our most reliable pass catcher, our MVP QB has 1 foot out the door, and the DL moves we made last year didn't really pan out too well, so there's issues there too.

oh, and LK retired.........

so looks like it's Christian McAfferty and the Pantherettes, coming select venues this fall, get your tickets nooooooowww......

My wife has developed a curriculum for the kids. We've gotten a few things from teachers, but most of it is her quest not to let their brains go to mush. They get entertainment time and breaks, too, but it's not all Fortnite and Nintendo Switch.

i didn't say it was.

if you want to believe it's bull crap that YOU or people YOU know don't like him because of race, that's fine, you got my support.

to say that it's bull crap, period, and dismiss it as a possible reason for anyone else is naive....i know it exists, i've heard it.....

it's not like i've said that's teh "only" reason people don't like him.....? none of this is directed AT YOU, as much as it is a general discussion....and yes, there are people out there that don't like him because he's black.....but not you. and not people you know....k?

hahaha...kinda funny, my wife asked me this morning before she left if there was anything we needed, and i was like "we're about out of ibuprofren"...so she's going to pick some up....lol.

My grandson is on spring break so giving him the week off. But told him starting Monday we are logging into the teacher's website to do the lessons she has assigned. I also have math and English lesson books I picked up at Staples before the school year started for him to work with. But needless to say he is not a happy camper; to him, he thinks this is supposed to be a break from learning. He was rather pissed at me yesterday when I told him schoolwork starts again next week.

Prayers for you wife.

I walked into work yesterday morning and was told I was safe. By the end of my shift I was given a temporary layoff along with 80% of my coworkers. They are telling us at the moment June 1 is the targeted return date.
