I'm here to steal all your recruits by planting seeds of doubt in their minds. Actually, I like the LV forum and I like to talk basketball. It's better than Mc'Graws Bench or Sic'em, or SyracuseFans, etc. As far as opinions of Walker, that has been my opinion all year. I posted similar comments about her selective passing that was holding the team back as early as December. ( and on the Boneyard it is a minority opinion.) Most of the posts there are wishing her well and saddened to think it will diminish next years team. In a parallel vein, did you happen to read the negative posts on this forum about Evina when she decided to transfer.

Well, keep it up okk

There's plenty of negative comments on the Boneyard about Megan Walker leaving and the thread about her transferring ended up being locked.. Walker had taken passive aggressive shots at the coach staff as walk out of the door there would be plenty of more negative comments.

Well, Pat is still fighting because, Geno's actions towards Evina is about to hit him back.

I'm glad you're here and I'm sorry you keep having to explain yourself. Not like we're overwhelmed with posters or anything. It's always good to have an interesting, intelligent point of view from outside the orange tent.

I'm very interested to see how Evina does. I know we're supposed to be all mad at her but honestly I'm happy for any of the kids from the last few seasons who are able to salvage anything out the eligibility they have left. How's Mom getting on up there? Active on social media with the fans?

Unfortunately, I think her departure means their team just improved. Bluntly stated, she is a high usage, low efficiency player and has been her entire UConn career. Maybe she can carve out a pro career as a three point shooting specialist but I just dont see her being able to contribute much mmore. It doesn't surprise me that there's a sizable and vocal segment of their fanbase that are now more optimistic about next year than before this news was announced.

Thanks, that's nice to hear. I enjoy most of my interactions with LV fans. I've just recently decided I'm just going to have fun with some of the more personal posts.

I assume you mean 'IF Walker had taken passive aggressive ..' and yeah you're right. Most of us on the BY were pretty unhappy with Evina's 'Sorry, not sorry' post and the photo of her family all in UConn gear. At best that was very immature at worst it signaled a troublemaker in the midst. I was very concerned because of the negative I'd read here and then her actions with those posts. I've suspiciously watched her every nuance to see how she was integrating and so far have been pleasantly surprised. We'll see for sure come January. By then her playing time will be shorter because of the integration of the freshmen.

I have a hard time believing most, as in a majority, of BY folks were unhappy with Evina giving UT the middle finger. Geno does it all the time.
Some UT fans deserved that but the Lady Vol players and program certainly didn’t.

So Husky fans why are you guys addicted to lady vols forum? Never heard about any negative talk on Walker until she announced her departure. And she's the leading scorer. When she committed to Uconn all the fans were like great pick! welcome to the power championship house, such a star pretty young lady. That was her decision. Naw that she make her decision again, is like she can't even play, she never improves her game while others calls her names that I can't even repeat here.Uconn fans don't like that!!!!!

No matter the player, they have the right to make their own choices. I think it is bad to bad mouth any player because they choose to leave your programs. With the WNBA improved salary scale, and the chance to make millions oversees, there will be more young ladies leaving for the WNBA when they are eligible. The men have been doing the same thing for years.

I had mixed feelings about Walker as a player and now I have mixed feelings about her leaving. I always felt that she was just a bit short of being a team player, always looking for her shot and passing only when she had to. However, she was a talent and a scorer and she would have been a senior next year. With all the new players coming in the team will need experienced leadership. I don't think they have anyone to fill Dangerfield's shoes as a team leader.

What makes her low efficiency this season?
She boosted her 2 point percentage to 49% by shooting 59% the last 8 games but was at 45% 24 games into the season. If you combine her numbers from the four games versus ranked P5 teams, she shot 16-62, or a shade under 26% on almost 16 shots per game. Also look at her fresh and soph years.

How do you feel about her WNBA potential? Is her ceiling as high as all-star, go-to and leading scorer? What is her ideal position at the next level?

I've been pretty clear expressing my opinion that Walker probably won't be a WNBA standout. I'm not convinced she makes an opening day roster. Having said that, this is a player that was happy to defer to two seniors last season, so it's kinda harsh to label her as not a team player. I think she showed, especially in the P5 games, that she's not good enough to will the team to win, but I don't think she came across as selfish or a ball hog. She took open shots when they presented themselves, and tried to force things when her team needed points in the tougher games, but probably wasn't good enough to take over against tough competition.

She's probably a prototypical small forward. Not sure she will do well in the WNBA because there are a lot of really good players at that position in the league, barely out of the league, or coming in...and they have the advantage of being able to create their own shot. Walker does a lot of things well, but she doesn't appear to be able to take on a talented defender 1-on-1, and I don't think you can succeed in the WNBA as a wing without this trait.

By P5 game, I’m sure you mean Baylor, South Carolina and Oregon, the top three teams in the country. She struggled against Tennessee as well.

Including those, UConn played ten P5 teams.

I’m not sure why you would discount 1/4 of her season. Seems to me playing better at the end of the season is a good thing.

No argument she struggled against those four teams, but it’s silly to discount the other 28 games. There is a reason she is predicted to go Top Ten in the draft.
