Covid-19 in France: A second wave?

Contrary to the original assumption that the elderly were the most vulnerable to Covid-19, healthy people in their 30s and 40s are now also being affected.

Until now, fears have been focused on the elderly or those with chronic illnesses and respiratory problems, who were asked by President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday evening "to stay at home as much as possible".But people in their thirties and forties who were not previously in poor health are likely to experience serious symptoms if they become infected, it has now become clear.

Few things that explain the panic:
1 - There is a vaccine for H1N1. It can be cured. This cannot (yet).
2 - Nobody has any immunity to this except (presumably) the people who have already gotten it.
3 - This is much deadlier to certain segments of the population (the elderly, people who are already in poor health) than regular flu.

People do need to calm down each time the number of cases goes up, though. It's primarily a function of more tests...these folks already have had it for a bit, we're just finding out about it now. I'd wager the number of people in the United States who have it (or who had it and have gotten over it) is perhaps 4 or 5x what the number of confirmed cases is.

affected sure but they aren't dying, I bet many many thousands of people my age around the world had it and never knew it.

And how does that compare to things like car wrecks or the flu for the same criteria of people under 50 in the same time frame?

He tried that early on but reality caught up with him. "we have it totally under control", "this will vanish", "anybody that wants a test can get it", "we pretty much shut it down coming from China", "this is flu, this is like the flu", "whatever happens we're totally prepared",

You’re right. It’s all a massive worldwide conspiracy to get Trump. All the sports leagues are in on it. Even the English Primer League. They finally got together and found something that’s gonna get him. 🙄

Maybe you should listen to Dr Fauci. He seems to be a fairly knowledgeable guy.

Nobody is saying that he instituted the SOE because of the media.He did it in order to access funds for businesses and workers who are likely going to be affected economically by this bs. The media however has created more panic than the virus itself. Swine flu had worse numbers and the media never batted a eye..

Have. Even yesterdays article. Knowledgeable is one thing. But, he also seems to be one of the fear mongers. Telling people to prepare to hunker down was part of the weekend blitz. He should be more responsible with his knowledge.
