Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Flu stays on surfaces 48 hrs. COVID stays on surfaces 9 days (Fox News). Mortality is 3x higher. Flu of 2017-18 had 60,000 deaths with a vaccine that wasn’t working well. But yeah... head cold.

Our government/media isn’t helping by politicizing an effort to limit national impact.
50 something deaths here, 22 or so from the same facility in Washington. Average age of death last time I saw was 71. I have no fear of this virus, my life hasn’t changed one bit other that dealing with the idiots causing panic.
This is a media pushed deal with one goal in mind

I must say, their denial of science and reality is at least consistent and across the board.

What science are they denying?

Science is saying that you can be infected with the virus, not show symptoms and be contagious for up to 2 weeks. More than likely several have it, don’t know it, will show minimal to no symptoms and be just fine.

Without testing on a wide range of individuals we can only collect data on those who show up to hospitals and are tested due to them showing significant signs. If your test point is only at the point of a patient being critical you’re going to get enhanced death rates. Think if we only tested for the flu when a patient was classified as critical. I’d say that it’s death rate would be significantly higher.

There is enough statistical data from significantly impacted countries that says that the death rate is little to none for those folks below the age of 60 and without pre-existing conditions.

Therefore from this data we can conclude that if you’re under 60 and have no pre-existing conditions you should feel free to live life the same way you have always lived it. Get together and enjoy community in what can be labeled as a morbid time. You could get it but your chances of living or going to be the same if not better than if you have the flu.

That is the statitistical science.

Great post. As a 38 year old healthy male, I would rather get this virus than the flu, there is a much greater chance I would die from the flu

Glad that all those who are in good health and under 60 have no contact with people who have health conditions or are over 60 (or contact with people who may have contact with people with health conditions or who are over 60).

Anyone bring me up to date with the latest? I keep hearing about shutdowns and stuff, I still fear here in Orlando it’s going to get pretty bad with our tourism

Just hope it doesn't mutate and start killing people in their 30's up.

Somehow I believe if that were the case, the calls for herding millennials into stadiums for quarantine would be deafening.

The top idiot declared it a national emergency.

Then those people above 60 who are afraid should self quarantine, problem solved

Posted about this a few days ago. He was the house Dem attorney that did most of the impeachment hearing questioning

He had to drive himself to CT to get tested.

I’m not saying that they aren’t. If you are over 60 years old or have a pre-existing condition you clearly should be more worried. It’s not a guarantee that something is going to happen to you but there is a significantly higher chance and that is a personal decision you yourself will have to make.

Keep in mind though if you’re joining the craze and going to Costco with the madhouse you are more than likely taking a higher risk than getting together with your family. I have argued this with my wife and this is just my personal opinion: You are just as likely to get this joining the crowds at Costco, Sams, WalMart, etc. as you are to get it at a ball game. If one is really that worried about it hunker down, use your resources minimally and choose low traffic times to go to stores such as the early hours in the morning. That type of distancing would probably be the best method if you’re seriously worried.

Some may disagree, but I believe that it's everywhere. If you have a senior, or already immune- compromised person that you are in contact with regularly, I'd say follow the CDC's advice and limit your own exposure to reduce the risk of exposing those high-risk folk around you.

I agree with flattening the bell curve but the problem is that we do not have enough data to determine whether we are effectively flattening the curve or not. You never know we may have already experienced the peak and not know.

That is currently one theory as to why West Virginia is not experiencing any cases. The theory is that the rash of the “flu” that went through the state in January and early February may very well have been the corona virus and we didn’t know it.

For all we know we may very well be more mature in this process than we know. And who knows how many have been infected, never displayed any symptoms and spread it to large amounts of others that experienced the same thing.

You too would be better off getting the virus than the flu. In the slim chance you got the virus you would live, with the flu your chances to survive are much less likely

We could also be hit by an asteroid. I mean if we are going to start worrying about things that are unlikely let’s start with getting out jimmies rustled by space debris.
