When I went to Sam's today, there was a guy that was loading his cart up with every rubber vehicle floormat they had. His kid was pulling them down in twos and handing them to his dad. Had to have had at least 30 pairs in his cart.

We already have the infrastructure to test. What specifically is needed for this test, I don't know. But other countries are way ahead of us on the number of tests given.

Somebody has to manufacture the test kits. We gave our manufacturing away. China can make kits (if China is working) because that's where our manufacturing went. Maybe other countries were smarter when it came to offshoring - I can see a more socialized Europe keeping some stuff home. Example: when I took an anti coagulant following a heart procedure, I couldn't use normal Alka Seltzer because of the aspirin, and I discovered a non aspirin variant, Alka Seltzer Gold. Alka Seltzer is made in Mexico, and Alka Seltzer Gold is made in Germany - the German stuff dissolves faster and better, too. But do we really know other countries are testing more - or just going with somebody is sick and checks all the boxes so they've got it?

The CDC and health dept standards are to rule flu and other viruses and illnesses our first as well as match travel history/symptoms etc. it makes no sense to test every swinging d*ck that comes on with a headache for corona. This is being caused by pure panic and the hospitals and health depts ( at least the ones here in the area) know what they are doing

Must be sporadic. The wife stopped at Kroger (for a few cases of tp) on the way home from work and said it was about like usual. No shortages of anything that she noticed.

Food city had TP/paper towels allocated. No rubbing alcohol. Lots of canned/dried stuff was gone. People buying their last meals I guess.

Apparently even having the test kits isn't enough. The additional chemicals (reagents) to perform the test are in short supply.

Daughter's college classes canceled indefinitely.

Also, cruise prices are dirt cheap even for trips later this year. Gonna book one for anniversary.

We just cancelled a cruise for the end of the month. They gave us a full refund plus credit toward another cruise minus port costs, gratuity, etc. My son goes to Clemson and I talked to him earlier today. He said they were gonna re-evaluate during spring break. 5 minutes later he texts back and says after tomorrow they’re done until the end of the month at least.

For you and McDad. Look at deck plans carefully. For example, on Princess ships, one deck has verandas that are twice as deep as all the other decks - including mini-suites. Half the veranda is covered and private and the outer part is basically the same as on all the decks above you. If things are really as bad as they say you might even be able to grab one of the cabins at the back facing aft - they have really good verandas.

This isn't like building new steel mills. We're promised a lot more tests starting next week. Again, the main problem was the delay in ramping up.
