Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I don’t. It’s fundamentally f-ed up if the schools primary function is nutrition and day care. Sending your child to school everyday doesn’t vacate that responsibility of the parent. Yes I understand that the lunch room in the school provides the meal, however I’ve always felt that food delivery should be the only responsibility. The assumption of parental oversight on this in public education is massive over reach as far as I’m concerned.
I don’t disagree at all but unfortunately it is reality in some cases where parents aren’t taking care of their kids for one reason or another. If the parent can’t or isn’t willing to do so the kids should be removed but we all know it is far from a perfect system.

Viruses don’t recognize political affiliations or any other man made boundaries so thank you Katie Porter for forcing that issue.

Now, everybody needs to know that care is available at no charge and I hope Congress is willing to shove the medical bills folks are still going to get hit with up the billers ass.
How about we take some congressional slush funds to pay for this....or maybe money slated for birth control in other countries. All those foundations in America that are holding money for green projects in underdeveloped countries can release that funding in the billions to combat corona. The money is already here...just slated for "other things" that aren't USA.
Globalists should come running to help their own country right? Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation comes to mind, since they are all up in the vaccine business now. The Carnegie foundation that is determining health care initiatives in America. Ounce of prevention...

It's just silly to eliminate gatherings over this, I mean we don't eliminate gatherings during flu season. People listen to the hysterical media way too much. All these teams, organizations, leagues and coaches are all pansies and they don't want to be the one to stand up and show leadership.
Eh. I think it's more the unknown. For the flu we know what it is. What it looks like and how to handle it. For this healthcare providers aren't even sure how it is transmitted. Trust me I thought it was silly at first too, but with the prediction of a 1-2% mortality rate its better to be safe than sorry in this scenario

I’ll agree that if the parent isn’t willing to provide for and shelter their children the children should be removed. I still reject the situation as a reason to enact emotional legislation resulting in more government over reach.

We should have had (need to have) a nationwide shutdown for about 2 weeks. People who are able can work from home. Schools use spring break as one of the two weeks. Postpone (not cancel) sporting events, concerts, conventions, etc.
Give the medical community and the experts time to get a gauge on the situation and come up with an actual plan.
Should have happened a week ago. It is now happening piecemeal which only grows the panic while being less effective.
Agreed. As usual we American wait until it hits then panic. We should've had a plan in place when it began spreading in Europe

I'm not willing to collapse the economy over this media fueled panic. I will be at work every day as will everyone of my employees. The panic by all these wimps is far worse than the virus

I think it’s accelerating (the precautions being taken) as everything is being canceled right now. I’m fine with it and it’s sensible to take cautious measures to stop the spread. How the world addresses the Chinese going forward after this should be intensely critical of them. As far as markets go...buy, buy, buy the minute we get good news on turning this around.

The greater crisis now is what will we all watch on TV when quarantined since there are no sports to watch.

I think you misunderstood or I misspoke but no big deal. I’m not at all in favor of more government involvement. I was just saying I understand the concerns regarding kids not eating given that schools are the primary source of proper meals for some. I’ve been through some very lean times in my life but I’ve always had food. I never thought about that being the primary source for some so I’m just saying that maybe it’s a subject I don’t know enough about to pass judgment so I’m not going to do so. I just hope someone is acting in the best interest of those kids.

I think I understood you. You recognize it’s a tough situation and feel the need to err on the side of caution for the children’s nutrition needs. You’re not necessarily in favor of it though.

I too can see the tough situation for the children however I don’t recognize the need by the government to act. If the schools are open and educating then by all means continue with the programs we have in place. If they are open just for day care and cafeteria and not educating then shut it down.
