Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

From an economic perspective the question has to be considered:

Do you shut everything down for a month. Which would be god awful.

Or is it better to die by a thousand stab wounds and drag it out.

It all depends on how bad you think this can get. And if you listened to any of the scientists who spoke today to congress it’s going to be ugly. On top of that if you look at the countries who were aggressive about it they have faired better then those who did not.

And it’s not over in these countries like China. They have turned a corner but tens of thousands more will still die

Drag it out.

Shutting down for a month is incredibly risky in that if it doesn't successfully serve its intended purpose, you throw the country into an economic crisis with nothing to show for it. Still, it seems like the less drastic measures haven't proved effective around the world. A temporary shut down seems like the direction we are headed IMO. It's more a matter of when than if.

I agree

All restaurants are open. And yes we in the restaurant business are very worried. I doubt my ceo is having twice daily meetings and conference calls with us because he wants to screw around.

I'd advise restaurants to start pushing to-go orders of course provided everyone in the restaurant is healthy.

people gotta eat -- they say the Chinese joints are hurting around here but that about it

The Chinese restaurants are no more a risk than your local Applebee's now.

You're more likely to catch Covid-19 buying something on Amazon now than you are if you buy it from China.

Get use to it. It's just the beginning.

It'll be fine, it'll get worse before it gets better but it'll be mostly wrapped by the end of April maybe a little after that.

They just cancelled the Utah vs OKC nba game that had a full arena and after they went through all the pregame stuff.

It may seem dumb but medically it's the right play. They just reduced the amount of time all these people would've mingled together.

Minus the body aches those are the exact same symptoms I had several days ago when I told you all I was sick. My temperature never went over 99.4. I'm one of those people that is sensitive to low fevers so I feel them when most people don't. It's the only reason why I checked my temp.

Lol. We were putting our daughter to bed tonight and my wife made that joke. I told my daughter that she would say this to her kids, In an old women’s voice, I said we could put people on the moon but not wash our hands.
We can't even put people on the moon anymore.

He's over 60. I'm glad he's keeping us updated. Have you went to the doctor?

Hes in Australia. They have competent leadership.
You're really giddy about this, keeping a close eye on the death toll with a semi arent you? Does it move every time the number goes up? You are hands down the most disgusting person on this board. Your hatred for Trump lead to your disappointment that no one was shot or killed during the gun rally in Virginia. You politicize EVERYTHING and your hate is so vile you wish death just so you can say you were right.

He said the word cargo too but the context was jumbled. I expect there will be clarification before markets open.
My father works at an international rail intermodal center. I spoke to him last night and he said so far there hasn’t been any impact to their business. They are expecting a 20% drop in inbound containers but so far it hasn’t happened. Some my company’s clients are large trucking companies and tell a similar story. I do have trips to see some large intermodal operations soon so I’ll see if they are saying the same thing or not.
