Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Maybe one of you alarmists can explain something. The flu kills at least 500000+ people a year. Sometimes the mortality rate is very high depending on the strain. So how is Corona 10-15 times deadlier when it hasn’t even killed 5000 people?
I think you have one too many zeroes.

We’re already seeing changes. Tele-medicine is going to play a much, much larger role in our healthcare moving forward. My hope is that it broadens enough to cover the non-insured population, thus reducing the impacts that particular societal segment has on hospitals, specifically ED’s.

Telemedicine is definitely going to move to the forefront of medicine starting this year.

Is this a serious question? Do you need to know how to calculate mortality rates? Or am I missing some kind of sarcasm...

Your attempts to portray someone who knows what they are talking about has failed. So take my post however you wish.

I was seriously asking. Do you need help with mortality rates? It seems like you’re confusing total number of deaths from a disease with the rate at which a disease is survivable.

Flu season isn’t year round. The vast majority of deaths from the flu happen over a certain periods.

You posted that the flu kills half a million people per year. With that statistic you had to be referencing worldwide. Remind us again of when flu season occurs in places like Australia...

Hundreds of Chinese migrants detained at US border amid coronavirus-tied travel ban

Since officials first reported the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan in late December and the United States imposed a travel ban for those entering from China, Border Patrol agents have detained 333 Chinese nationals attempting to enter the United States illegally, according to Department of Homeland Security data obtained by Fox News.

While none have tested positive for the virus, the southern border remains a primary focus of the Trump administration, which sees the area as high risk and a gateway for COVID-19 to spread in the U.S.

Under MPP, which stands for the Migrant Protection Protocol, the U.S. has deported some 60,000 migrants to Mexico to await their deportation hearings. Unless the Supreme Court acts, the policy will be ruled illegal in California and Arizona and those individuals and other migrants claiming asylum will be allowed to remain in the U.S. indefinitely.

"All it would take is a single infected individual to impact the detained migrant community within DHS facilities without proper precautions, which can only happen through orderly, lawful migration, the virus threatens to spread rapidly,” the official said. “Any halting of MPP would exacerbate this threat."
