Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

That's not entirely true. There is a factual basis from which they can forecast that demand for many things is going to go down: energy, travel, entertainment, etc. I agree that the level of that decline is speculative at this point, but there is a rational basis for it. Unlike some other speculative thinking from the Make-A-Wish president.
Panic from prospective customers is what's causing a decline in those respective industries. Also, couple that with Oil Prices plummeting and you have a very volatile situation in the stock market that is beyond Trump's control.

Let's hope this doesn't get out of hand although one could say that it already has.

I agree with all of that. I'm saying that, regardless of the cause, the decline is rational, at least in the short term.

I like the Make A Wish president moniker

They can't help themselves. The left has to blame everything on Trump as the right blamed everything on Obama. Nature is outside the control of the government.
I don't recall blaming him for anything, but I did have disdain for the turd. Once he was elected everything turned to race, the divider in chief.

The decline in the travel/leisure stocks, IMO, is totally justified (cruise lines, airlines, hotels, casinos, etc.). That is the most obvious but probably not best place to look for bargains. Not only are they looking at large amounts of lost revenue because of the virus, but it seems totally reasonable to me that there is some sort of a chilling effect or re-evaluation done by people once this thing is over about whether that much travel is necessary. Especially business travel. Think about it...say you travel twice a month for work but you suspend all travel for 6 months because of coronavirus. Once the 6 months is over, you look back and notice that it didn't really negatively affect anything at all; you made adjustments and dealt with it. If enough people do that, I think we're talking years before it returns to the level it was before.

For the cruise lines in particular, it might be years before they are able to shake this off. Kind of like what happened to the airlines after 9/11. They'll eventually hit a level where they stop going down...we might be getting close to that as we speak, but I could see them all being dead money for an extended period of time after that. There are probably better opportunities.

If you're going to bargain hunt on individual names, I'd look at what was working and showing good relative strength before the decline - tech (AAPL, GOOGL, MSFT) would be a good place to start.

The thing that some don't want to admit is this: some of the best preventative measures (if not the best) are ones we all have to take individually. Trump can't come to your house or office and make sure you wash your hands for at least 20 seconds or that you cough into your elbow (not your hand people). He can't force you to disinfect surfaces or take vitamins. If you're feeling sick, he can't force you to use your common sense and stay home. There are preventative measures the government can take to limit the outbreak of a virus, but those only go so far as we have seen around the world.

From what I've been reading, all of the Chinese "hospitals" that were built are basically quarantine buildings with no medical care. Some had a slot that food and water was delivered through. I think it was a BBC article.
I don't trust anything reported by the Chinese government.

No doubt. I’m still not buying that this all got started from an exotic foods market contained in their seafood. Sounds like a typical Chinese “nothing to see here. It’s all under control.” Eventually they quit saying much of anything and just started giving statistics. Then you knew they were lying. The UN is feckless IMO, but I hope ambassadors from around the globe lambaste the Chinese at the next UN meeting. All this s*** gets started over there.

I do think it’s approaching irrational territory, but time will tell. Maybe Putin and Saudi kiss and make up and calms the markets some with a nice rebound.

News out of Fulton County Schools is the teacher got sick at school, 911 was called and teacher was transported to the hospital.

Saw this as well. “The district did not say which schools were impacted. However, a message to parents shared with 11Alive identified the schools closing early today as Bear Creek Middle School, Woodland Middle School and Creekside High School.”

What I’d like to know is where the teacher came into contact. Atlanta has a huge Chinese population. A few weeks ago it was mentioned there were 200 Chinese students that were supposed to self-quarantine after returning from Asia. Did some of them have the virus and spread it?

Curious why India has not exploded with this?

Borders China. Dense population. Poor sanitation. Etc.

Does not make sense.

The Florida House of Representatives is being sanitized after because some of the Reps came in contact with the person who tested positive for coronavirus at CPAC.

You stated that the fact that they have had multiple deaths is evidence that they are not properly sanitizing their facility. The point I’m making is that there is NO evidence that they are not properly keeping the facility clean. Multiple deaths in a nursing home is to be expected once one person there has contracted the virus due to the way it spreads and how it effects the elderly.

I am not disagreeing with anything you stated.

So dumb. So dumb.

You people are idiots and are going to cause major economic damage to industries, and in turn, to individuals.

It's like a second grade class has overtaken the world psyche..

Well, a first grader runs this country, so why not second graders everywhere else?

So you think that would be a good thing? Not a big fan of Trump and I wish he would chill, but this is absurd wishing out loud like this. You need to check yourself EL. That’s unbalanced by A LOT.

No one wants Trump to get the virus. I am told he is a germaphobe. I didn't know that but makes sense given his other mental illnesses. Perhaps at least the scare of it will get him to sober up to the realities.
