China came clean on the virus news in January, so I wonder how many of the pneumonia deaths attributed to the good old flu that we’ve seen in the US this season were actually from this virus? Fairly sure that Chinese folks were traveling around since December and that lengthy incubation period could be a kicker.
If the CDC were to actually start testing everyone that pops negative for flu but has flu like symptoms the case numbers here might explode.
.Just lost my mom to Alzheimer's last week. My dad who is in relatively good health except for pulmonary fibrosis at 81is my worry. Be hard pill to swallow to lose him now. What precautions do you recommend to reduce his risk?
Can't imagine how tough that would be, I remember taking care of my grandparents and my grandmother's twin sister with Alzheimer's and how difficult that was, can't imagine dealing with a parent. Vitamins, regular hand washing and reduced exposure to crowds and people who travel is your best bet. Wishes you and yours the best, sincerely.Just lost my mom to Alzheimer's last week. That was the class 6 over by the PX. I still have my Redstone Federal Credit Union credit card, my first loan ever came from RFCU. A $500 signature loan at 18, I bought a guys Technics rack stereo system across the way in the barracks, you know the old ones with the glass doors with the magnet clicker in the corner? I rocked Metallica's Kill 'Em All CD until the MP's came, no one could outplay my air guitar solo to Seek and Destroy.
Were you in the single story squared off U-shaped barracks? Those were used for students when I was there - probably more some place else on base.
Yeah, I figure I've got two more summers with my boys (they're 16). I'd like to take them to the Galapagos and Machu Picchu before they leave for college.

So stupid. It’s a virus. It spreads. You can’t stop it. You just do your best to minimize it.
My kid got H1N1 10 years ago. Do I get to blame Obama?
Do you think we should have completely shut down international travel? Have you considered the ramifications?
Never mind that the last time this happened in America, 12,000 died in 2009 from H1N1. It never crossed my mind to blame the President. So ignorant. You are a fool if you think we've done our BEST to minimize it.
Yes. We've done it before and we all survived. Now a lot of people will die.
I like how you completely skipped over my last reply to you about testing. It's a shame you are simply in here defending Trump and not actually giving a true professional medical opinion on the response to all of this or the lack thereof. Then again you're a pediatrician so you don't even get to see the ramifications of this virus in the geriatric population.
The shame is you're only in here to blame Trump. Not everything has to be about politics. So ignorant. You are a fool if you think we've done our BEST to minimize it.

When have we ever shut down all international travel? So ignorant. You are a fool if you think we've done our BEST to minimize it.

Say what? I've said multiple times that politicizing this is ridiculous. Sorry if I missed a question...I am not able (or willing) to stay glued to the forum all day, and this thread has been a little nutso. What were you asking?Yes. We've done it before and we all survived. Now a lot of people will die.
