I'm sorry, what in the world does that have to do with what I just said? Where did I say I thought that was ok either? How does that somehow justify what was yelled at Santiago?
Because fat shaming gets a pass. What about making fun of a presidential candidate's lack of height? Or a POTUS's or Speaker of the House's dental work? What about calling the former Vandy coach Baldy? IMO, the outrage for some kid's trash talking at a ball game is over the top. He said nothing derogatory. He told him to go home to his own country and likely only said it to irritate SV and very likely doesn't care where he goes after leaving their cow pasture. It was dumb. Getting kicked out of the game might even be excessive minus a warning.
I feel like I'm talking to a wall. How can you not grasp telling a kid to leave a country is worse than calling someone bald or fat. He absolutely said something derogatory. This argument is clearly going nowhere and I've given it more time than it deserves. Have a good one
He is from Uruguay. Kid told him to go home. Not nice, but it's not necessarily outrageous.

It's Thunder, no point in even trying. He just doesn't see it. But yes it was wrong and clearly worse than being called bald or fatty. Those are playground insults.
Saying go back to X country is xenophobic. Especially when you throw in "This is America." Even if he didn't mean it the way he said it.
If I said the N word but was just playing around, it is still horrible.
Now maybe the kid had a few drinks or whatever and was feeling liquid courage I am not with this whole "You guys are so PC, this if fine" crap.
You're right. Some of the reactions are baffling to me. People are acting like this guy was seriously lobbying for Vescovi to be sent back to Uruguay. He didn't call a press conference or organize a demonstration. He didn't publish a manifesto. He didn't lobby his congressman. He shouted a dumb comment from the stands at a sporting event -- something he probably thought would get a laugh from his buddies. No one was injured or had their rights violated.
Then why should this kid be punished more severely than Banks? Both statements were stupidI never defended what Banks said, I said he should be given another opportunity. I didn't feel what he said to the officer(s) should cost him his collegiate career. In your opinion the Banks situation was worse. In mine this one is.
So it’s about hurt feelings? GotchaThe go back to your country is a racist/xenophobic statement. It has been used as a racial slur in America for a while. Try traveling around the world and have someone yell that at you. I was told to go back to my country while traveling in Korea, it felt very racist.
Racism to millienials is anything that “sounds like” it could hurt feelings or to disagree with someone’s politicsFor all calling this racist, would really like a little clarification. Seems as if definition of words are changing on a daily basis. I never heard anyone say you are inferior because you are from Uruguay. This 59 year old man just wants to know.
