Charger, are you a candidate for the Whipple procedure?
Got any pointers for an amateur?
I second this. My in-laws gave us half of a beef and we got a brisket and I’ve never cooked one. My MIL always cooks hers in a bag in the oven and i want to smoke it but have never done it. My wife doesn’t like how her mom does it and I want to try something else.
cook low at about 220 or so. When the stall hits wrap in peach butcher paper until probe tender above 200 degrees. Do not use foil on a brisket. I dont get crazy on brisket rub because I love the taste of beef. Salt,Pepper, and Garlic is about all I put on a brisket. Get a good quality piece of wood to smoke with. Whatever your flavor of choice is. I usually mix a little cherry and pecan together for brisket. Rest brisket for few hours and slice against the grain.
Some people have medical conditions that require them to be on pain medicine for the rest of their lives and that's unfortunate. The key is finding the right meds and the lowest dosage possible that provides comfort. This leaves the person with options if they develop a tolerance or the pain worsens.
Some addicts can recover without meds if they have the will power and desire to do it. Some have altered their brain chemistry to the point that they need help and there are options available.
None of these people should be looked down on. All three situations are medical conditions.
I think we all know people that became addicted that did not think they would and didn't want to be. But the problem has come with people thinking they need to decide what is best for someone else. As McGill said an addict will find a way... even if it is making something in the kitchen. Now doctors can't even decide what is best for their patients. A friend's husband was sent home 3 days after having both kidneys taken out with instructions to take Tylenol every 4 hours.Yeah, I don't want to be taken as saying anything about people in that situation, I can't even relate.
Not sure why it produces so many different results. For me, I feel nothing from any of them, except pain relief. And every couple of months, I'll have an entire week with no major pain, otc work and I don't even take the prescription meds.
There's no cravings or changes in mood when I don't take them. I don't want people that are different than me to suffer but there seems to be a complete lack of that feeling being reciprocated.
Unfortunately, there's a lot of "I had a cousin who got addicted, so IDC about everyone it helps".
