well, if playing in the CBI means Vols playing and getting some more experience and us seeing them again I'm all in...we don't have a CBI championship trophy anyway...:D

GO VOLS!

I hope we get to "the dance". I know it is something of a long shot unless we really start winning some games, such as this weekend.

While I am always for more basketball, and especially for this young team. I can’t imagine Tennessee would accept an invitation to the CBI. I know we’ve declined it at least once in the past

BTW, the 1971-72 team was so disappointed that they lost to KY by one point in the last game of the year, which prevented them from being the outright SEC champion, and lost the NCAAT bid to KY due to the tie breaker (only one team per conference was extended an NCAAT bid in 1972) that they voted to turn down the NIT invitation. The NIT was a very prestigious tournament in 1972.

We turned down the CBI in the Tyndall year. Probably would lose money playing in it anyway.
Lose money and miss class to play basically scrimmage games. One year Indiana openly scoffed at the idea saying such an esteemed program such as themselves would rather not play at all than to denigrate themselves by playing in a tournament comprised of such awful programs.

I question how much much benefit our players would get from playing a couple extra games against bad teams. Would they even care?

The CBI picks 101-116. There are 353 teams competing.

Selling about 4,000 beers would cover the $50k buy in.

It's amazing how much information is absent from just 40 years ago. I can't believe how little video exists from the pre-TBA days and even the earliest years in the TBA. You've got to think that the UTAD is sitting on a bunch of it and they're trying to figure out how to squeeze as much revenue out of the footage as possible.

KY is a great source of old video and stats. They archived everything.

I heard that when Stokely was being emptied before demolition that there were a lot of artifacts just abandoned. Things like hand written written letters by Johnny Majors. Dave Hart was such an a-hole. That clown should have never been allowed on campus.

Interesting that the CBI is a best 2 out of 3 in their finals. I wonder if something similar ever happens in the NCAAT?

The NCAAT used to have consolation games when it was a 16 team field. The NIT once had a consolation game after the semis. TN/Devoe beat Louisville in it in 1985 after losing to Indiana.

This today and yesterday the 4x100 Shuttle relay information. Thunder bringing the details. Good stuff.

I remember that loss well. It really stung.

Always fun playing in front of 600 fans during Spring Break against a crappy team during the first round of the NIT.

I almost think it would be less embarrassing to have all of those games on a neutral court.

Except there were almost 5,000 at the TBA in Cuonzo's 2nd straight year in the NIT. Over 350 teams can participate. Only the top 100 can be in the NCAAT or the NIT. Making the 2020 NCAAT was always considered to be an overachievement. A team with 6 of their 10 regular players being freshmen should jump at the opportunity. 3 wins gets to the semis in Madison Square Gardens. There will be plenty of big names in the field of 32. If you don't care don't attend, don't watch, and you don't have to comment.
