'20 TX RB Zachary Evans

Don’t see how it’s going to be a trend. Pretty rare for a school to just let a 5 star player walk from an LOI with no consequences.
Yeah it’s rare occasion for sure, but I do think it’s a little dumb that once released from one NLI the kid can’t sign another. This thread will break records lol

So are you guys good with a possible trend that can be started because of this? Having to wait until July for recruits? So are we going to leave one spot open until July for him?
The NCAA needs to allow recruits to sign another LOI if the school that lets them go agrees to letting them go...
There won’t be a “trend”. Most recruits can’t pull this kind of thing off...schools will find someone comparable and fill the spot. This is for the Jadaveon Clowney level prospects.

To my knowledge only one last year as well, don’t recall his name but signed with USCw now is with Texas. He was an “athlete” projected to multiple positions...

A few big name recruits have done it. Off the top of my head Roquan Smith, Demetrius Robertson, and Bru McCoy.

It’s not the same situation. Smith never signed an LOI. He just waited until after NSD. Pretty sure Robertson didn’t either. Don’t remember the exact circumstances surrounding McCoys crazy saga.

Smith never actually signed with UCLA...just pulled their cap at the ceremony. Both Robertson and McCoy enrolled before bailing.

Thought Smith signed an LOI with UCLA then got out because he learned his position coach went to the NFL. He then signed financial aid agreements and ended up at UGA. Don’t recall Robertson, just know he did the aid thing and also just showed up on campus. The McCoy situation is the closest.

Bru McCoy. Most aren’t considered worth the headache.

I’m sure this has been discussed so I apologize in advance for asking. I don’t understand how a high school player can be held to the same NLI rules if the college he signed with decides to part ways. UGA released Evans so why can’t he sign anywhere he wants and not be penalized?

Smith never signed with UCLA. Signed with UGA when it was only the one signing dates in February.

Think he asked for the release.

I looked because I wanted to make sure. He was about to sign when he got the word that the LB coach bolted for another job. He then held off and didn’t:

And looks like Bru McCoy sat out this fall as a transfer..... some kids just don’t have great people around them. They’re kids but the coaches and parents, well....

I normally don't post this kinda stuff, but I got a text from somebody that works for athletics and they said the coaches are excited for how he enjoyed the visit/what he told them. That could be him talking hot air, but it has to be a good sign.
There will be no good or significant signs until this kid is enrolled in a school and attending classes summer semester. Due to this kid’s personality everything else from now to then will be opinion or conjecture. Nothing more and nothing less.
