If I Were Mike Hamilton...

I would certainly be open to most of the guys on Hat's list as coach. Patterson and Kelly are my favorites right now

I don't see Leach's offense being very successful in the SEC. He's in the right conference for his type of offense...the Big 12 (no defense). Myer runs the spread at Fla but its the running spread (basically the same offense [VEER]that Johnson is running at Ga Tech but from the shotgun). Must be balanced to win in the SEC, not one sided.:twocents:

Meyer's offense and Johnson's offense are nothing alike.

I've gotten myself so damn hopeful about Jon Gruden that anyone else will be a disappointment initially.

And, honestly, I've never considered Gruden a realistic candidate at Tennessee...I just feel like hoping big.

Now that the job is officially open, do you think we can now get some public denials and rejections.... ie: "I am not going to be the Tennessee coach!"?

most SC fans think kiffen was a hack and sarkisian was the key to the offense. though after seeing sarkisian call plays for 2 years a lot of them have changed their tune. remember davis tried to hire sarkisian first.

A lot of NFL people think Kiffin can really coach. He was a good recruiter at USC as well.

Didn't we all say the same thing about Meyer while at Utah....

Butch Davis is the the #1 pick but, if we can't get him I would like to see Jim Harbaugh as our HC

Hamilton is already scheduled to be in Raleigh on Nov 11. Maybe he will have time to chat with Butch.

And yes, Bill Cowher does live in North Raleigh.

Same here. I never realistically thought he'd come but I've seen it mentioned so many times here and other places that I guess there's gotta be some small chance they could get him.

I like Cower as an option and he did just buy a house in Cleavland TN, just down the road a peice

that's because he's going to get a job working in the new Volkswagen plant down there. They're going to use his chin as a crash test barrier.

Meyer's offense and Johnson's offense are nothing alike.

Did you watch the UGA/Fla game? Its the Veer offense BUT Meyer has the fastest players ever to run that type of offense. And he runs it from the shotgun formation that spreads you out.

Maybe its just the hangover effect from the Raiders fallout, but I don't have a good feeling about Kiffin. I just want an intense head coach. I've posted this before but if you watch Florida and Alabama their players are focused. They are an extension of their head coaches who won't tolerate anything less.
Hamilton just has to figure out which candidate has that quality.

Funny how two years ago the Pac-10 was considered all offense and no defense... but now that the Big 12 has 5 of the best QBs in the nation and they're putting up good numbers because of that they have no defense and they're all offense. Wow.

Texas Tech's offense will work anywhere if Meyer can ran his in the SEC and dominate.

I'm a bit surprised by Todd Graham at 3.

I think he made a good move with Malzahn, but his defenses have been atrocious and he's the guy.

I also don't believe he could get the recruiting done that we're after.

Mind you, I'm a Graham fan.
