The Impeachment Thread

Readin' iz harde!

And I quote, from the article:

But GAO rejected that claim, saying Trump’s decision, carried out by the budget office, was a violation of the Impoundment Control Act, which requires notification to Congress of any such delay in an appropriation of funds.

You do realize that if the chief executive has no discretionary function he has no purpose? If that were the case, then our government would hardly have been designed around three separate branches ... the founding fathers were a bit smarter than that. If that had been the case, we'd simply have had a legislative branch doling out legislation and money as it saw fit with no checks and balances. The president has and has to have the ability to act immediately and at least semi autonomously. If a country receiving a congressional handout decided to use that funding to attack the US, how long do you think it might take congress to get its act together and do something? Do you honestly think congress could manage to play the hit squad and stop a terrorist in his tracks, or would you sleep better thinking 500+ heads are better than one and rule by committee is just the ticket even if they hadn't acted in time on anything ever?

This has nothing whatsoever to do with a president using his powers whether implementing tariffs, withholding free congressional funny money (our taxes), or other forms of coercion on a foreign power. It has everything to do with Trump doing those things, and your side doesn't like it and has severely hurt feelings over it.

There's obviously some truth to that but it in no way diminishes the mounting evidence against Trump nor the Senators' sworn constitutional duty to hold a fair trial.

By the way, that evidence will continue to grow regardless of what the Senate does. Should Trump embarrassingly and inexplicably be re-elected, the evidence will still continue to grow.

I have no doubt that the left will continue its goal of removing Trump even after the election if he is re-elected. I also have no doubt that the next time a Dem holds the office and the Rs the house , that person won’t have a minutes peace . That’s just where we are .

And it was all 100% foreseeable and avoidable. It will be one of the many horrible Trump legacies.

The GAO just so happens to release this OPINION, the day of impeachment articles being delivered to the Senate by the House.

Just a coincidence I suppose

Actually, it was the day after the articles were delivered. And if the GAO issued its finding next week, you'd be complaining it was during the trial. You Trumpsters and your nonsense conspiracy theories have got to stop.

Gotta love it when the ends justify the means . I always thought it would be hard to claim the high ground and justify throwing the baby out with the bath water , but somehow you are managing to do it .

Do you seriously think anything is going to come out of this?

They will go through the motions and at the end of it. It will then be unceremoniously dismissed and the dimocrats will have made President Trump the first impeached President to be unanimously re-elected President for a 2nd term.

I've never cared for Trump and it started long before he was POTUS. Always thought he was a blowhard. That being said, not liking him has absolutely nothing to do with ideology. I listen to the words that come out of his mouth. I see what he tweets. I watch how he behaves. The only people talking out of their asses are his proud supporters like you making the same false claims as he makes. Oh BTW, plenty of Republicans and conservatives dislike him
Kick rocks. I'm not a Trump supporter at all. I've said all along that I didn't vote for him, nor will I in 2020. Try again. But that has nothing to do with the fact that you were talking out of your ... and phrasing disdain as facts.

That ruthless dictator Trump is up to his tricks again... not giving out foreign aid money.

Federal Watchdog Finds Trump Admin Illegally Withheld Assistance From Ukraine

In other words water is blue, and we're an entrenched bureaucracy and don't wish to be controlled by an outsider even if he is at the top of our chain of command. You never know what he might do ... like defund us and tell us to leave town.

Our bottom line would look so much better if we simply cut off all congressional aid for profit schemes.

I think any president who is as horrendously despicable as Trump should be removed from office by any legal means available.
I do not believe we will ever again have a president as horrendously despicable as Trump.
The great danger which I recognized from day one was in any attempt to normalize Trump.
He is not normal and should never be viewed as such.
I never in my wildest dreams foresaw the number of people who would/could fall for "Trumpism".
To the same degree to which Trump is perceived as normal, our country is screwed.
