Santiago Vescovi

Two weeks ago: Highly unlikely he plays this year.
One week ago: He'll play when he's ready, huge learning curve.
Today: He draws his first career start just a day after being ruled eligible.

He is either really good or we are really desperate. Maybe both.

Yeah, this looks like the start of something really good, but he could also flame out really quickly if he doesn't do well. It was just so hard to know what to expect with someone coming from out of country. It is looking like us optimists may have been right for once though. He may actually be all that was advertised, and just what the doctor ordered.
10 minutes 8 points. 2 rebounds. 4 assists

23 minutes, 14 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 7 turnovers (not all his fault).

Actually Santiago speaking English is important in his development. Don’t think secchamp2012 had any ill intent. It’s a legit question.

Yeah I just asked that because per some Pons had a little adjustment problem with coming from France and I seen a one sentence intro video on FB and SV spoke Spanish on that video.
Looks good today expecially for just 5 prctices.

Most TOs weren't dumb. Good effort by LSU defending. Picking his pocket, not really throwing them away.
Eh he did throw a good bit of dumb passes imo, but it’s his first game he’ll learn. Like you said before the three 3s is the bigger development

The turnovers are expected. I don't think he is used to the elite athleticism American basketball players have. He will settle in and learn and will be good to go. He has that Z-Bo shot which is slow and suspect to get blocked.

We have some hope the rest of this season with this kid. Even if we lose to LSU today. He has been on campus for a week and we are already much better than we have looked since the Memphis game. If his feet are set, chances are his 3 pt shots are going in.

LSU owning TN today, Vescovi better learn how to take care of the ball, that is simple fundamentals.

He is 18 and had 1 week of practice.
Having the ball stolen from him from behind as he walks up the court is not excusable. He needs to protect the ball, he has shown a lot today but this team has no identity and Bowden needs to see the bench, his shooting is atrocious and he slacks on D

You don't think adjusting to the pace of the college game might be part of things? If the turnover bug continues after a handful of games, then I will worry.

I am less worried about Vescovi, he will get it hopefully. I think Bowden is a big problem now, his shot looks terrible and his effort on defense is lacking.

Doesn't really jump when he has wide open 3s.

Not nearly as fast as Bone was, but he changes speed really well. He gets open all the time just by stopping and changing direction.

Maybe the best no-look passer that I've ever seen as a UT PG.

This kid is good. He has had 1 week of practice and probably isn’t even used to the time zone completely. Glad he is a Vol!
