QB situation next year. With Bailey coming in and hopefully taking over at some point (tough for a true freshman), I personally would like to see us keep Maurer and Shrout, let JG go to Rutgers and maybe look for a Grad Transfer. Not sure what the deal is with Hill, will he ever play here or just take up space. I think the upside for Maurer and Shrout is way better than JG. I don't think I could take another year of JG playing QB at UT.

Not bashing on you because many on here do the same, but I'm not understanding the assumption of JG's destination being Rutgers? I know he's from there and his dad was a player there, but the family moved from NJ to Atlanta if I recall correctly. The other tie in that made sense was if Butch got the Rutgers HC position, which he did not. I think this is part of JG's hesitation to enter the portal, he doesn't have a guaranteed landing spot. He'd basically be risking not only a potential starter's spot, but also a roster spot based on the way his play has been this season. I just don't think that many programs would be lining up for his services, or excited to add him to their QB room.

Can we all agree that whoever the RB coach Is (even if we’ve never heard of him) we give him some time? The initial reaction is to say “he sucks” or “he’s a terrible recruiter”, but what we should’ve learned from people like Nieds is that you don’t have to be a HUGE name to be a lights out recruiter.

UNPOPULAR OPINION:

Honestly...I'm excited to see what Jarrett can do with the same OC in back to back years. This will be the first time in his entire UT career that he gets the same OC/system.

I think it'll be easier for Chaney to teach him having a full 12 games of footage of Jarrett running the system to film study with, rather than what he (the OC) did with a different QB at their previous stop. I also think Bailey will be legit competition, Maurer & JT get that "backup QB" love our fanbase is so bad to give out. But neither have really done anything to prove they should be starting, Maurer had 1 drive and hit Indiana players on 3 of his passes...

Jarrett & Bailey on the same roster should only help both young men be better.

Now I say all that for two reasons.
1. I'm not a fan of a true freshman starting, historically we've not had the best luck with that situation
2. I'd love for HB to get a RS season, I wish we had gotten to RS Dobbs...that extra season to workout and practice is huge for development
🤦‍♂️..I don't even...

That dude, bless his heart..almost singlehandedly lost the game...again.

Agreed but I also think Maurer and shrout will benefit from a second year with Chaney as well. I think bailey can win the job but don't think it will be as easy as most assume.

If you don't think those guys haven't been developed this year, I don't know what to say but its the other 80 guys on the roster that win championships when you make them better. If you are good developers you can bring in the blue chips but you can also bring in potential, and that is where da golds at.
I 100% agree

Doesn't matter how many stars you have if the staff sucks azz at actually coaching football...after the 🐎💩 we have seen up close the last ten years you are never going to change my mind.
Also doesn’t matter how great your developers are if you have a bottom tier talented roster. Need both balanced equally.

He put 11 JuCo players in the NFL, and 47 more into D1. His experience has basically been OC & HC and he's ran (successfully) programs at 2 different schools. He was almost the hire at WR coach in Pruitt's first staff, and would have potentially been the hire this past off-season too, if we hadn't landed Tee. If you lose Weinke & YAC it makes more sense to put Tee at QBs coach (where he likely wants to be anyway) and O as WRs or RBs, then add a new hire.

The main reason you do this is he's been here 2 years and recruits, staff, players respond well to him and his offenses were ridiculous even at the JuCo level. He's going to "break on the scene" sooner rather than later, and it'd be a shame to hire over him again for an on the field position when there's no clear-cut proof better options are out there. I mean that's why you try to identify and hire good staff people to promote them when attrition happens.

I'm sure Kevin Simon wants to be an on-field defensive positional coach, and being on staff with the guys we have here is part of the appeal of him coming here to take the Player Development position.
Sounds like he’s your guy if you want to run a JUCO program.

Yeah...I'm not "excited" for him to be our starting QB. But he's a great teammate to have in that QB room with all the **** he's gone through, even if he never plays another meaningful minute at UT I'd rather him on the roster helping teach the young bucks.

JG -in game- has mental blocks, no denying it. But JG is without question doing everything "right" in preparation for game day. The coaches, the media, the players all say this and see it. Those habits need to be inherited by Maurer, JT, Bailey and any other QB on this team.

Man... rewatching the second half this morning, and I didn't see this last night, but with 1:54 left in the 3rd quarter, we bring a blitz. Henry T ends up getting the sack, but part of the reason is that Roman Harrison absolutely manhandles the left tackle. He body slams him, closing the gap allowing Henry to get to the QB. I cannot wait to see how he develops.

You don’t need a degree for fecal communication. I get to talk to you on here for free!

Pruitt came from HS...

You have to promote eventually, very few coaches just "start" in college you moran.
No kidding. Osovet may be a hell of a college coach one day. He could be a complete dud. The program still isn’t in good enough shape yet to make that kind of risky hire.
