The Culinary Arts Thread

I'm not a big guy, 5'6" abd 155. I got to 165, but when I cut peanut butter I dropped to 150 quickly. I've gained about5 lbs the last several weeks, but not in the waist. It slowly went up as I started using heavier weights, but my waistline got smaller. It's weird😄
155? are u still in 4th grade too?

My son has the flu and I took him to the doctor he is 5'6 155 and he is 14. And yes I had my son 3 days and his mom called I tested positive for flu type B and so did his sister and today my son tested for it so I guess I am next. I have about washed the skin off my hands.

Stay out of Walmart and you might not get it

I’m completely convinced that all this illness is holiday-related. Target or Walmart two days before Christmas; a couple of people with GI bugs who don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom touching everything in sight plus three people with flu coughing and sneezing plus a thousand or so tired, rundown people otherwise healthy trying to get their shopping done. Pick up all these lovely bacteria and viruses, then everyone goes and visits family.

Germ carriers + crowds + indoors + traveling = no fun for anyone.

I’ve been wearing extra-long sleeves and opening and closing doors and touching faucets using the cloth of my sleeves, and then hitting every Purell I see. We’re going out of the country in less than two weeks, and I can’t get sick now!

Fleeing from the authorities? 😲

An artery is an artery. Hypertension contributes to hardening of the arteries, and high dietary fat and stress contribute to fatty plaques in your arteries.

If it happens in the arteries of your heart, you have coronary artery disease. In the arteries of your legs, it’s peripheral artery disease. In your brain, it’s cerebral vascular disease.

In my mom’s case, she probably doesn’t have the plaque, but that high blood pressure pressing on the walls on tiny arteries in the brain increase the possibility of a leak. Since my mom is on anticoagulants, tiny bleed into brain + slow blood clotting means a good possibility of mini-strokes, plus the general hardening of the arteries that makes it harder to get oxygen to her brain. She’s ridiculously healthy otherwise, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink, 5’7”, 115 lbs and life long athlete. The untreated high blood pressure (we’re talking for YEARS) was her only risk factor for dementia.

But enough gloominess for New Year’s Eve. Good for you for dealing with this now!
My great-grandmother had "hardening of the arteries". You don't hear that term much anymore.

Anybody staying in and fixing something good to eat?

We're having Bang Bang Wings as soon as they come out of the air fryer.

A little later we'll have some dried apples with prosciutto, honey, and ricotta. Maybe a little dried rosemary sprinkled on it. And champagne of course.
