2020 qb comparison/talk/debate (merged)

Here’s a still shot that shows everything I just said. If you think that wasn’t purposely thrown that way you’re just showing your bias. His hand after the release will tell you all you need to know. He wasn’t trying to lead him. But nice try

Thats a bad picture. That ball is clearly thrown behind him. But you cant see the defense to determine if that is the correct placement. But odd are considering that calloways momentum is heading left. The ball going to his back side will stop him to make the catch.....it looks like a crappy throw. Lol

How about those that say rings make all the difference in who’s the best. With that in mind Trent Dilfer and Doug Williams are better than Dan Marino. Eye test means nothin, eh?
Also meant to give credit to Dilfer. He may not have been the best qb but the best players don’t always become the best coaches and Dilfer is probably the best qb Coach I’ve ever personally met.

The defender was over the top of Calloway and ahead of him. That’s why he’s not in the picture. And I agree it’s behind him. It had to be. That’s the point. You can see Maurers arm angle and hand clearly aiming where that ball is headed. If you get time look it up on you tube and watch the play again to see why I’m saying what I am. You’re reasonable so I have faith you’ll see what I see.

1) or you could argue that the season didn’t turn around until that guy you love to hate made his first start. So who qb us to a bowl? I’d say Maurer had as much to do with it as anyone.
2) you mean the game vs KY that the defense couldn’t get off the field? The same one that someone on this board counted 4 drops in 11 passes that would’ve given him an 11 completion quarter?
3) that “lack of accuracy” you speak of....... go back and watch it. That ball was purposely placed behind Calloway to allow him to stop, make the catch and turn upfield. The corner was stride for stride with Calloway with with top side leverage. Calloway was BMs only option on a roll out. I like Calloway but he got himself banged up on that play by not understanding the only option was behind him.
1. further proof you will never fairly assess the situation
2. so why did pruitt take him out again? i saw live several hit the turf before making it to the wrs, but u watch different games than the rest of us
3. just gonna answer this with "WOW"! the lack of accuracy in this statement it amazing. seems maurer'ish

there's no cb covering him in this pic nor did the replay or announcers acknowledge such. unbelievable! so u really believe maurer had no fault in calloway damn near getting decapitated on this play?

Care to tell the board again WHEN you noticed the change in the team? Wasn’t it after the UF game? 🤔
ha! so after the team's worse score loss, they were fired up over a field goal and that led them to a bowl game?

u tell kids unicorns are real too huh?

If you’re going to get involved, keep up. The question was WHEN the turn around took place. The answer was AFTER the UF game. His argument was a poor attempt on a quote from JP. “The turn around took place at a meeting we had after the Florida game.” He claims the meeting itself was the spark because JP didn’t come out and say it was BM. If you use common sense it’ll tell you that the team was told AT THAT MEETING that BM was taking over as qb1. 2+2 dude. Add it up

Not one player or coach has said BM was mentioned in the meeting or that he was a catalyst to turning around the season.

You are fabricating a false narrative.

The coach got the team fired up. Not playing a freshman who the team thinks isn't the best option.

Do you REALLY KNOW what the team thinks? No. You know what they said relative to a question they were asked about a teammate by the media. So don’t sit here and act like you KNOW anything. What if I told you I had people closely connected to several players say the exact opposite? Would you believe me?

Not one coach or player was asked nor discussed the details of that meeting either Have they?

But they threw many more downfield passes than jg. And neither enough playing time to have a fair evaluation. Dont think our opponents dont notice this. That's why our running game has struggled they stack the line to stop the run cause they know jg is very inaccurate doownfield.
And you base that on what? JG has a higher yard per completion and yards per attempt than either of the others significantly higher. People keep making ridiculous statements when the numbers and actual game film say different. JG completed more downfield passes than the other two QB completed passes period.

JG Had 3 times more pass attempts than Maurer but completed them for 4 times as many yards. He threw for as many touchdowns in the UTC game as both other QB's did for the season.

IF JG is inaccurate downfield that means Shrout and Maurer are flat out blind. Both of them had a completion rate more than 12% lower than him. Please stop parroting some silly crap you saw someone else say without having anything to back it up. The running game struggled because the running game struggled. It struggled when any of the QB's were in and in fact, our best rushing performances came with JG at the helm.

Here are 2 articles speaking directly To the spark that y'all say that Brian didn't give the team. There's also direct quste from Jeremy pruitt in the 2nd article regarding the difference between the leadership capabilities of JG and BM

Teammates hail Maurer's impact, ready to see more from freshman

The biggest difference between Brian Maurer and Jarrett Guarantano
you realize those articles are from EARLY October right? context is important Since those articles play on the field have shown them to be bogus. I could probably go back and find 50 ridiculous articles feeding the frenzy that was going on then.

How about a challenge. Someone anyone find a similar article from late November on by any reputable source. You can't because only people living in a bubble still think anyone but JG should have been our starting QB this season. What happens next season? Who knows but we only have one proven QB on our roster for now. Until someone takes his job its his to lose.

I really can’t answer that question. I just rewatched the game AGAIN and still only count 2 bad passes early. The rest were dropped. You can blame Maurer all you want for that game but here’s the truth...... deny away because I know you will. This was his worst game by far but DEFENSE was the problem. Those articles are relevant to the impaxt that BM had aftet the florida game. SO you want people to find an article about an injured true freshman from a source you deened reputable. While said freshman wasnt playing?

We will find that article when u find one stating JG is a top tier SEC QB and one of the top QBs in the NFL draft....

We both wont find it cuz they dont exsit...why not answer my question about why his accuracy suffered so much from the opponents 39 yard line and in????

you'd think JG didnt just QB us to third in the SEC East and a new year bowl! And one of the wins was @ky where the guy some love the most couldn't hit the ocean throwing from a cruise ship 2 weeks out. hell, the dude almost got calloway dismantled withhis lackof accuracy, yet someof you still trying to debate this! tf is wrong with you? the QB comp this year....as pruitt said.....IS OVER!
The defense got UT to a bowl game, not JG. The defense was able to counter JG's horrendous offensive output.

name them? name the 100s of others that do so so easily? i'll wait.....
OK I can see there's Not a 100 examples. Graduations you win your argument on a technicality. Feel better?

Now my question to you Is this. explain to me where ball placement in a 10 yd out route changes between the West Coast offense and a pro style offense. Or a 10 yd curl or a swing pass. Pleaseexplain to me where the ball placement is different in those type of throws?

O God. Here comes the he threw for 400 yd against Missouri crowd. Funny thing is, his 2 touchdown passes one was a 5 yd out route that JG had to completely stop him momentum because the throw was poor while still being in his catch radius. And the other was a fade route to Calloway in the end zone that he had to jump over a db who had already had 3 pass interference calls on on him just to catch it...but no JG is great

400 yards is good. 2 TD is not bad. 400 yards and only 2 TD's..thats not good at all.

JG is really good at putting the ball so high that the WR's have to jump up to get it and it makes it hard for defenders to pick them off. Or..he just throws way to high all the time..not sure which is which. It will be nice to have a QB who can finally hit WR's in stride soon. Probably start getting 20 or more TD throws a season!

He has been instructed to do that. The receivers are told to “high point” the ball. That means catch it as soon as it pokes through the 10 ft altitude plane. The receiver’s job is to be at that spot and poke their hands through the plane to be the only person who can catch it.

In stride gives the ball to the safety. Because the safety’s job is to high point the ball. If our receiver is trying to catch it in stride, and their safety has the speed and range to high point it, a turnover happens. See Deon Grant.

Pruitt hammered on this last year.

u right! the defense scored those points.

the defense def got stops, but like pruitt said after the KY game. "no JG we dont win this game"! and this was after starting "u know, he who does no wrong".......in the eyes of the jockstrap sniffers.

at some point, some of you need to get over GaSt and BYU and enjoy how the season ended
