The Impeachment Thread

"He" has been dead since January. If Trump wanted to be critical of her, that is fine... but why say that about a dead man? It was disrespectful and mean-spirited. Trump was literally being vindictive toward someone who has been dead for almost a year now. I can't think of anything more petty than that.
Yeah well what are ya gonna do?

Market's at all time highs... More people working. etc etc etc. I don't care if he hurt her feelings.

For someone who hates government and laws, it's ironic that you are the exact reason why everything has to be so thoroughly legislated. You make no distinction between the right thing and the legal thing.
Makes it convenient for his arguments because he really doesn't care for anything but himself. He might be happy with a dictator though.

In case you hadn't noticed, Trump is not a nice guy. He is a loudmouth New York *******. That may be what makes him good at his job.
Of course, I have noticed. I talk about it all the time. Trump is a despicable person. There is great irony in him casting someone else in hell.

And those comments will not help him win Michigan, for what it's worth. John Dingell was a centrist Democrat and very popular in the state.

I wasn't just speaking of the current pope (Pope Francis). It's a great move but it does come about 40 years too late. John Geoghan, Paul Shanley and countless other priests had their way with literally hundreds of kids and they were never anything but enabled by the Catholic Church.
I agree, the amount of abuse covered up has been aggregious and is more well documented than ever.... Heads should roll. There is a farm owned by Notre Dame in South Bend specifically for "retired" priests. I have heard many things about this place and local law enforcement Is never welcome. I actually did food sales with them. No women allowed, i waited in a vestibule for the order. I just found it odd driving into the extensive grounds that the retired priests were no older than me. I was in my 20's at the time.
They thrived on anonymity, i hope they no longer have it.

It’s the existence of lawyers that is to blame.

There is never a good time to be a bad person.
Really? That is very sweet that you believe that. The Europeans have been taking advantage of America being the 'nice guy' for years. Not paying their fair share of NATO, the UN.... expecting us to come running to their aid every time they have a crisis (which we still do in many ways)... bailing out the rest of the world when there are natural disasters.. all the while burning our flags and protesting everything about us. Nah. It's past time we stood up for ourselves.

If I have brain cancer, I want Dr House and not Doogie Howser.

This seems to imply that you can't advocate for America (which would also include standing up to Vladimir Putin - and not siding with him over US intelligence by the way), and be aggressive in defending American interests abroad, while also being a person of good character with moral values. That is just wrong.

You have done everything here but hold Donald Trump responsible for his consistently immature, petty, vindictive and self-absorbed actions... and you also failed to cite even one example of where Barack Obama was ever as mean-spirited and petty as Trump was with his comments about John Dingell.

Well, no again; that's in "the deeply flawed man" phrase and I made it clear I care much less about Trump's shortcomings than the leftists, and treacherous people in gov/media who had plenty of VALID criticisms of Trump to work with, but went full Stazi instead.

It was a dumb dig, I'd prefer he not make such comments, I think they're beneath him and the office. Other than that, I don't care; he's frying more important fish. I specifically compared his narcissism to Obama, now you want me to compare their "mean-spiritedness", too; to what end? Is this a point system and is there a curve?

"You got into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

I think that's beneath a president and the office, a nasty generalization about half the country he perceives as not voting for him, and whom he can't begin to know. Happy?

Well that kinda settles that...Bily Graham was like the Pope to some Christians

Billy Graham was also a close friend of Richard Nixon's and vouched for his character as well. Billy Graham defended Nixon's lies in the aftermath of Watergate and Graham is on one of the Watergate tapes making anti-semitic remarks with Nixon. Above anything else, Graham was a Republican who regardless of the character of the person involved, would always unconditionally support Republicans. This tweet by his son doesn't settle anything. It only confirms what we already knew about Billy Graham.

* If you don't believe me: Just Google "Billy Graham Anti-Semitic Turn with Richard Nixon". You will immediately see a link to an article in "US News & World Report" from February 28, 2018. If you think that Billy Graham was a great guy, you should click on that link and read it. Graham was a political partisan who had some very serious flaws himself.

Side bar.
LBJ was brutally racist. JFK was a devout philanderer. However, when those are brought up, we are admonished about how cultural norms were different back then.
Here we are with Graham's character examined through the microscope of a more sensitive society.
End side bar.

I guess Ole Billy was human after all......probably not able to walk on water like Obama could.

I don't think you have listened to that conversation of Billy Graham and Richard Nixon from 1972 in the Oval Office. That was pretty brutal in it's own right. Republicans want to pretend that tape doesn't exist, but it does. There was never a great time to be that anti-semitic.

To be fair, I should point out that Billy Graham did apologize to Jews for his remarks in 2002.

You're absolutely correct. I haven't listened. Have no desire to do so. Im actually not defending Graham here. Im also not impugning LBJ or JFK.

I'm making an observation of the sliding scale of morality depending on the party affiliation of the person.

No consistency. No REAL dialogue. No attempt to consider the position of others. Meaningless point scoring and "winning" is what we're about now on both sides.

Rant over. I'll go back to stfu-ing and gtfo.

And for two decades, Obama absorbed and thought highly enough of Jeremiah Wright's weekly anti-American, antisemitic, racist spew to raise his daughters in the good reverend's doctrine. Then publicly dumped him while explaining the optics to him.

Dude, that's not even a tie...
