The Impeachment Thread

You can’t spin this one Luther . She’s doing the same thing she just got through accusing Trump of doing .
Sure I can spin it.
Trump was trying to withhold congressionally approved aid in return for personal gain.
Pelosi is trying to negotiate a resolution with the Senate. Not even in the same ballpark.

But it’s a statement against interest... why would Trump’s chief of staff tell a lie that hurts Trump?
That's a question I cannot possibly answer. Along the same lines of, why does Trump say things that hurts Trump? Why do people confess to crimes they do not commit? I haven't the foggiest notion why people say some of the things they do.

You can try to spin it like it’s some kind of Bill they are trying to get worked out in a by partisan way . You can’t spin the fact that she’s trying to determine how the Senate will be ran , how the Senate will set its rules or how they will determine their procedures , which that is what she’s trying to do . Just like she accused the Executive branch of doing .

Who has a problem with having everyone who has sworn to serve the country and has knowledge of Trump's actions involving the Ukraine testify? It not only seems fair it seems imperative.

That completely overlooks the biggest factor "personal gain".

People confess to crimes they didn’t commit because they don’t trust the criminal legal system to achieve the right outcome. Predatory interrogation procedures take advantage of this fear to manipulate them into believing that the fact of their punishment is predetermined but that the severity is not. None of those elements are present at a White House press conference.

If you don’t assume that statements against interest are true, then you can’t assume that statements under oath are true. The function of the oath/perjury is to counterbalance the benefit of making a self-serving untrue statement.

If it isn't important enough to force testimony in the House, why is it imperative to hear testimony in the Senate?
