The Atlanta Braves

Just trying to make sure I’m not missing some wonderful blessing of packaged meats
I respect that. I like it in theory.

I took my steaks/beef to the next level last year and I’ll never go back. Completely cut out the middle man. The difference in taste is amazing, I know exactly what the farmer feeds them and buying in bulk saves an insane amount of cheese. Plus, I can completely customize the cuts down to centimeters of the thickness on the steaks. Highly recommend.

Anyone here ever used Omaha steaks or Kansas steak company or something of that sort

Many years ago I received an Omaha Steaks gift pack for Christmas. I remember everything being better than I expected, considering that it had been frozen and shipped across the country. I said at the time I’d buy from them again but never actually got around to it.

My sister has done the hipster cow thing like Scotty a couple of times. That’s good assuming you have a big chest freezer and you really, really like pot roast.

Lol come on, Old Man. What you do is split a 1/2. All of it fits in the freezer in my kitchen. But yeah, you get a lot of ground or stew in addition to all the prime cuts.

That's what she does. She splits a cow with someone else. If all that fits in your kitchen freezer then you either A) have one of these big hilarious faux-commercial Viking refrigerators that cost as much as a car, or B) you don't have much else in it. Or both. When your kid gets older your freezer is going to be packed with members the chicken nugget and hot pocket food groups and you'll probably have to store all that chuck roast out in the garage.

I save a ton a money on deer meat. I almost prefer venison over beef.

Most of what beef brings to the table is chewiness rather than flavor. I like a good ribeye or burger every now and again by but and large most of the meat I use in my own cooking comes from a pig.

Bison steaks are pretty fantastic if you've got a butcher nearby that deals in them.

It’s a dual zone, can be converted to ‘fridge or freezer. Whole bottom half is a freezer. 1/4 of a steer is usually around 100 lbs. which isn’t as much as it sounds. I do have an upright freezer in the barn tho.
