I tried to word that as delicately as I could. He/she is right, I don't have kids, but that's beside the point.

I don't blame those that that have an initial opinion to put this 13 year old to death before they know more than what they've read here. I on the other hand can't say I would be in favor of it that quick..

Death penalty for an adult is different than a 13 year old. IMO anyway.
