Where was your rear end when he was coaching at USC with all that talent? Are you really expecting him to turn the SEC West upside down because he won 2 championships in whatever conference that even is? He did okay. Let's see how he does in the SEC before we put a crown on his head.

Where have I said any of this? I responded to a guy who said what he accomplished at FAU was “okay.” That’s ludicrous. Conversation has nothing to do with what he did at USC.

Take into consideration that program had previously gone 3-9 the year prior to his arrival while winning 9 games in the previous four years as well. Guy comes in and leads them to their first 11 win season in program history right off the bat. 2 conference titles in 3 years in any conference simply isn’t “okay” by any stretch of the imagination. Truth be told you just don’t like guy. Therefore he’s not a good coach. Not how it works.

Truth is quite a few have a bromance going on for the guy. I'll wait and see how he does in the SEC West.

The two aren’t in the same league as coaches. Kiffin has made his share of stupid mistakes, but he’d coach circles around Jones.

To be fair, Kiffin was doomed at the start at USC with the sanctions and scholarship reductions. On top of that, he was a young, arrogant, and immature prick.

Would have needed a helluva coach to pull them out of that back then.

He seems to have matured quite a bit, did some good things at Bama and FAU.

I think he will get Ole Miss up and running. Get together a group of good to elite recruiters and be the 3rd best team in the west with 7-5 to 8-4 seasons with the occasional upset sprinkled in ala Freeze.

Yeah, I think he'll easily be better than Arkansas and probably Mississippi State. He's gonna struggle trying to overcome A&M, Auburn, Bama, and LSU.

After taking a look at the recruiting forums I can understand the tenor in this thread. There is a total meltdown in RF. Not warranted of course. The SEC is always going to get new coaches. I also think there are many here that hate LK which changes perspective. Regarding USC, they had sanctions and are down like 20 schollies and bowls which is a tough situation for success and following Carroll was never going to be good to follow after. I have not noticed anyone in this thread anointing Kiffin, just those like me that think he is a good coach and was going to land somewhere sooner or later.

You can't win my friend. I compared scores with UAB earlier and was roasted because that's not how it works, can't compare teams that way. But you can compare two coaches and the amount of conference championships they have....

What's funny is you guys want to change opinions, then get upset when we disagree with what you present as evidence. Time will tell if LK succeeds at OM. Nothing he has done to date makes me believe he'll succeed or fail, so I don't understand the hype that it's a HR hire.

Ole miss must’ve really got a home run, seems like he’s already locked down Memphis, Mississippi, stole northern Louisiana from LSU and is taking over eastern Texas as we speak on the recruiting front......

Only people that need to worry about kiffen are the dads with hot daughters at ole miss

A dead fish could coach circles around Butch. We have no idea what Lane will be able to do at OM. My best guess, he'll maybe get them to fourth in the west. Maybe an occasional third. The SEC west is the hardest division of college football for a reason.

You and weezer seem to change the rules as you go. Neither I nor Bearwallow said we were worried about Kiffin. Find it in one of my posts and I'll gladly apologize and recant. I just said I think he is a good coach. I did not say I thought he would be successful at OM one way or the other. I did not say I liked him.
Weezer, if 2 conference championships is not an indicator one way or the other then why make the comparison to Butch?

What a great day! Bammer failed to make the playoffs or the championship. GA failed make the playoffs and was embarrassed in the championship game. Kirby Dumb made a fool of himself blaming his receivers. We have tied our best SEC record since Fulmer. And we're getting a bowl tomorrow. We are on the way to the top.
