To be fair Bru hasn't really been negative about the recruiting. This was started by a mike4vol drive by troll and bru is just an easy target because he will argue semantics with anyone. But he's not the one who said Pruitt can't recruit. He's just arguing over the semantics of calling the last 2 classes elite vs very good under the circumstances.
fair enough. @BruinVol

Who said the CLASSES were elite? As opposed to landing ELITE TALENT in those classes? When the studs are brought up they’re summarily dismissed in the big picture. Painted As Victim Bruin is a funny Bruin. 😏

Don't forget we have some redshirt guys I think we will see a lot more of next year.

Chris Akporoghene, Sean Brown, Lowe, Tyus Fields to name a few. I'm really excited about the 2 TEs. I think Brown has a lot of upside.
That we’re in a position to redshirt legit talent is underrated progress.

When Fulmer started focusing on stars more than personal evaluation? That’s when our talent level dropped when the stars were filed and the response to coaching began. More Chris Donald and Daniel Brooks less Patrick Willis. Landing top rated talent is never bad thing...unless you fail to vett them personally.

Not directed at Fulmer specifically, just all the coaches combined and their respective classes. Lots of the lower ranked classes over those years were the most productive. We as fans spend so much time getting caught up in the rankings that we forget about all the diamonds in the rough. Pruitt sees the whole picture it seems like better than most. I believe that’s in part to why we’re seeing so many transfers. Pruitt has brought in young, hungry guys to play ball and the upper class men are realizing those players are the real deal

Missouri should have called Nebraska to find out how during Frank Solich worked out for them the following years.

Same scenario, different level of program

Christmas: Silent Night. White Christmas, Bing version.

Secular: Natalie Grant. Cant really think of one.

Songs I turn off: Cant really think of one. Anything relating to Fox. Or, John Boy and Billie. I want to punch them out.

I’ve lost many a night of sleep, trying to determine if “Last Christmas” or “Simply having a wonderful Christmas time” is a worse song. I hate each of them with a passionate fury that can almost be described as adoration

That's fine. Bru earns the heat he takes no question. Just pointing out that mike is the one who said Pruitt can't recruit.

Mizzou did Barry Odom wrong. Ole Miss did Matt Luke wrong. Arkansas did Chad Morris wrong (although man his team sucked).

I don’t agree with any of those decisions. But most surprised with Mizzou.

The only SEC coach I would have fired this year may have been Derek Mason. But he had equity from the bowls, three wins against Tennessee, and an AD who doesn’t want to spend the buyout so I get it.

Army wearing 1st Cavalry Division uniforms for the Army-Navy game next weekend. This rivalry is a great example of why college football is the best sport on Earth.

All of these kids are or were labeled as elite kids. He is doing pretty well. Quit being a miserable sack of ****. Thanks.

Edit: I can’t wait to see your dead brained response
Getting Henry To'oto'o may have literally saved Pruitt's career. I'm sure if we don't have him gunning offensive athletes behind the LOS like he does, some of them get touchdowns. We especially lose the Kentucky game without Toot IMO

It is obvious to me. It is a simple deduction. The Tennessee brand was run into the mud by the time he got the job.

Tennessee has always been, for whatever reason, a target for literally everybody nationwide it seems like. Other schools have had massive faux pahs..and nobody seems to care, but let us have any little nothing happen like Pruitt tuggin on a facemask or a jersey, or JJ unintentionally stepping on a guy after making a ferocious hit...and look what happens...I will never understand it.

It is going to take awhile to restore that brand..it does't matter who the coach is outside of a Saban or Urban type.
Agreed on all accounts, however, new, young coaches are usually able to recruit really well once they start winning. We haven’t been able to do that to this point.

I don’t know. We might be following the Barnes tactic of laying a foundation of hard work with “good guys” but that only worked for Barnes because he won at an extremely high level a year early. Also think it’s easier to be picky on a basketball roster.

I say all this to say I don’t think football recruiting has been bad - it’s been average for us historically as a program and I think statistically a little bit better than what Dooley or Butch did here (minus Butch’s one great class.)

I don’t know. I’ve said this before but I thought Pruitt would recruit like Kiffin did here. That style had it’s obvious drawbacks but we were getting elite talent.

I think we are highly sensitive to anything negative in the media too, and rightly so but a lot of negative blurbs about a lot of schools pop up in the news cycle and are just as quickly farted out into the netherworld. The vast populance of the country never see or even care when a negavol story surfaces.
There is so much truth in this post.

My Arkansas friend said Chad Morris supposedly had a huge graphic of he and Deshaun Watson in Clemson gear up in the entrance to the Arky football complex. He didnt move his family to Fayetteville. There was 0 buy in from players because it appeared their HC had one foot out the door from day 1.

My hatred for "Last Christmas" has ebbed dramatically now that I associate the song with Emilia Clarke. I've seen enough previews for that movie that whenever I hear it, I think of her. And that's very much not a bad thing.
