Music City Bowl wants Vols (merged)

There's no picking order any more according to what I read. The group of 6 bowls work with SEC and the teams to get the best match-ups.

Ok - I just looked it up. After the playoff and NY6 bowls are set, the Citrus Bowl gets to select an SEC team. After the Citrus selects, it goes to the "Pool of 6" process which includes the Outback, Gator, MCB, Belk, Texas, and Liberty. Those bowls are assigned in consultation with the institutions and the bowls.

So, for those 6 bowl games, you're right - there's no picking order.

What I'm confused about is how DP sounds pretty sure that process won't put us in the Music City Bowl. He knows more about this stuff than probably anyone on here, so I'm hoping he can clarify that.

Hoping for Gator Bowl/Tax Slayer...whatever. Outback may take a better SEC team in terms of record. Belk or MSB will not surprise me, but will disappoint me.

Other than the Independence bowl in Shreveport, all the Power 5 team vs Power 5 team bowl games are basically the same if you're not in a NYE 6 bowl or the Playoffs. Personally, I'd much rather beat a crappy ACC team and get to 8 wins than lose to a motivated Big 10 team like Michigan or Minnesota

yes we are 7-5...the 6th best team in the SEC, and with the ways the SEC bowl matchups are set, we deserve one of the Florida bowls...which would match us up with Michigan or Penn St or Minnesota...try to catch up
Catch me up. What makes you think that we can beat 9-3 Michigan, 10-2 Penn St., or 10-2 Minnesota?

I don't think any of those teams are all that good, but if I'm being honest we're not all that good either. I started looking at the records of those teams, who they'd lost to, who they beat and while its not that impressive, its more impressive than ours.

Catch me up. I would love to feel as confident as you and the others.

Music city bowl doesn’t bother me one bit not for this year anyway especially the way the last few years have went”it would be a easy drive and cold weather doesn’t bother at all...now don’t get me wrong if it’s fla I’m fine with that also.....GBO

I actually think Vols and Minnesota would be a good game if you remember northwestern a few years ago was 10-2 and we spanked them pretty good in the bowl game”now Michigan and penn st is a different story but I would like our chances against the gophers....GBO

I don't care what bowl we go to, we haven't been bowling that much. So in my mind any bowl with our recent performance on the field is good. That said as long as we beat whoever we play in the bowl and go 8-5 I am good with it. GBO!!!

Give me Josh Dobbs on this team and I'll agree. Otherwise, I dont.

I think Michigan, year after year, is a middle-of-the pack team that, much like Tennessee, don't consistently beat their big opponents. They just lost to Ohio State by 29 AT HOME.

Honestly I think we'd have a better chance against Michigan than Minnesota.

Tennessee vs Louisville in the Music City Bowl Tennessee vs Minnesota Tennessee vs Michigan would be the toughest game. Don't the SEC split up all the Bowl money anyway so payouts don't really matter.

Yea, I'll not mention our losses AT HOME. Lol.

To keep from repeating myself again, I'll just say I genuinely hope all of you are right and we beat them if that's who we play. I'll be the first to say you were right and I was wrong.

I don't know what that means.

And I personally don't care which bowl it is, all I'm concerned about is the opponent.

That was the most profanity I have ever heard...and I was in the Navy!

Totally true, it was as pissed a crowd as I can recall. And I was one of the ones swearing. We all heard the official say "that's the end of the game" and then they let them go back and get a free kick from their penalty. It was a travesty of an ending then and is still a travesty today. I feel sorry for the Music City Bowl people, I know it's not their fault Big 10 officials are so stupid, but I am pretty irritated by it even now. I know, I know, support the Vols. I might get over it. Who knows. But I won't ever forget it.

we could lose to all three...or we could beat all three...none of those teams are impressive and are beatable..now if we show up on offense and have 4 turnovers, yes we will lose...but our defenses could shut down all three of those teams.

I knew all that. Lol. I thought you were gonna educate me.

Obviously we could win or lose all three, I think we'd have a better chance at some of the lesser ones. If this weren't the last game of the season, I'd be willing to play anyone, but I think its most important to end with a win, no matter who its against. Started with a loss, don't want to end with one.
