I think the only way you. Could do this is getting rid of conference championships which I'm against.

Going to 6 is what I think the next stage is. The 3 and 4 seed gets a home games against the 5 and 6 to determine who plays 1 and 2 in the bowl game format.
Do like bball and just have a reg season champ. That is 1 option.

2nd option, and one which I love, is making the conference championship a part of the playoff. So Division 1a plays division 2b and 2a plays 1b. Then winners play for the championship. 4 superconference champs play down to 1. G5s have their own playoff or join one of the 4 superconferences.

Option 3 is having 8 conferences. Maybe add the aac, mwc, and 1 other. Conference champs play out an 8 team playoff.

Bingo. There are plenty of ways to make it work. Scrap conference championships as well. Though 8 is the magic number 16 is kinda crazy
Yup conference championships don't really fit in anymore. Either scrap em or make them an integral part of the playoff itself. Otherwise they just have negative agency consequences, wherein a team like UGA this year would be better off being 2nd in the East than going to Atlanta and losing to LSU. Makes no sense.

Recruiting is mostly about the player-coach bonds. They fired some coaches but none of them were big time recruiters for SC (unless McClendon leaves). Lloyd is very close to Muschamp and Thomas Brown. Both are still there so he’s going to go there
a 5 star going to SC makes zero sense on its face, that's number 1. With them being a dumpster fire that they are right now its even more surprising

Play out a season with the BCS formula, a top 4, a top 8, a top whatever... probably a different champion depending of the process.

I don’t think anyone really cares about finding a worthy champion... just more interesting games....

Guess what! We had that already!!!

Sophistry.

OSU's class averages have been 2-6(!) points higher each year than UM's. 2018 it was 88.5 Michigan and 94.5 OSU 👀 c'mon

Given all attrition, transfers, etc:
2019 Team Talent
OSU #2. Average 92.32
Michigan #11 Average 88.98

Miles apart. Their averages are FURTHER apart (3.34) than between us and UK (2.62)...

Fact is Bama, OSU, UGA are just MILES ahead of everyone else in paper talent atm.
Lol don’t ever bring up star gazing or recruiting rankings again after that comparison. It’s not like they are recruiting JV players lol.

Not really. Carolina usually gets at least 1 top 40ish player a year and Muschamp and crew are very good recruiters. Plus Lloyd has been committed for months. He’s sold on them and has a great relationship with the coaches. Early playing time helps too

Jason Garrett should have been fired first.
SAS had a lot to say about all this today (minorities in the NFL...mentioned Reggie Mckenzie too...). Usually completely dislike listening to him, but he actually laid out a pretty compelling argument. Not that an argument is even needed across the larger swath of society, but you'd think if there was one place minorities might get a 2nd chance or fastracked to higher positions it would be in professional athletics...

Who was the qb prospect Chaney was so fired up about earlier in the season? Think he was from Texas or ended up committing to a Texas school.

Yeah article says he injured it vs UGA.

Played every week after that.

Might explain his terrible play - because the kid has a lot of talent. I’m kinda hoping he transfers out of there but that whole family seems pretty entrenched in uscjr.
If he tore his ACL, there's a really good chance he might not be up to speed next year. Some of those ACL injuries are the beginning of the end. You might see their QB take his name out of the portal.

Who is "they"? Not sure what your point is. That is a huge gap. Like said, bigger than us and UK.

Michigan has good players. OSU has elite players. Big difference. And Harbaugh has done very well outside of OSU. People like Finebaum acting like he's been terrible are setting ridiculous bars. They may not be late 90s Michigan, but if we were going 9-3 and 10-2 yearly, people would be singing our coach's praises.

His dad put out a tweet earlier disputing a torn ACL. Something about just being a minor knee issue that needed cleaned up.

It's baffling how UT seems to be every SECE team's hated rival. SCAR, UK, Vandy, Mizzou seem cordial with UGA and FL, but hate us with a fiery passion. Apparently, they consider us a nothing program that should be an auto-win. I could understand it if they were all 8, but...
Considering our play for the last 10 years, I'd say they have an argument but it's a new day now and they know it :cool::cool:

Did I miss conversation on Schiano going to Rutgers? It will be interesting to watch how successful he is this time around.
We all saw how he drug down OSU's defense recently and how improved they are without him. 26 ppg allowed last year and just 12 ppg allowed this year.

The game has passed him. Glad we passed him too.

Especially Ryan Johnson. Why transfer if you already graduated and plan on getting masters in engineering. He will not be a NFL player so why leave?
I think you answered your own question. He’s not going to play in NFL. Transfer to a lower school where he has a shot to play one more year of organized football.
