Posting this thread here because recruiting can directly be impacted either positively or negatively by results on the field.

Tennessee is on an awe inspiring win streak. So let’s not over speculate or start rumors but I do have a simple question:
With the way we are winning and the recruiting pedigrees of this staff (Pruitt. Ansley, and T. Martin alone are known as bomb national recruiters) why are we ranked 20 nationally?

If Butch can get guys to come here after showing year over year he cannot develop talent- I’m excited to see how well we could develop 4&5 star talent with these coaches who are known for player development.

The string of wins which is the result of player development speaks volumes for all these kids wanting to go to the league as they say. Pruitt admitted the coaches coach the players hard. I can believe that because I see the results on the field.
High school kids who want to go to the league is now able to see their path to get there.
The pictures of the kids celebrating is contagious and sends out the message "Come and be a part of us" we've turned this ship around

Recruiting is a sh*t show in a dumpster fire right now. I usually focus on the positives but right now I don't see any in regards to recruiting. If I'm wrong let me know but I can't help being extremely concerned about it.
The kids that are committed are smart and good players and I expect the rest of the class will be great.

5* Darnell Washington will make us jump up the board a little!

And how did Butch's recruiting translate to the field? Holding a clipboard for $35K.

Average player ranking: Of 100 points and after the top 5-6 teams, TN is within 3-4 points or less of the rest, and perhaps within 2-2.5 points of most of them up to and including #8 Auburn. It's meaningless at this stage and there is zero reason to nail bite.

Don't get carried away at this time... I speculate we have not been pushing for commits at several positions pending on how we finished up down the stretch..... a late win streak might get us some guys higher up our board. We shall see. BUT in the meantime by the service that has us ranked 20 at this time we have more 4 stars than 7 of the teams ranked higher. ALSO this staff has a couple of 3 stars with things you cannot coach speed and extreme size that could parlay their strengths into high level players.... I do not head toward the bridge with 3 stars this far ahead of signing days..... The last few games for example one of our longest REACHES from recent years, K. Garland, has been involved in some significant plays.

So I would advise you wait before you queue up the Hew Haw gang with the theme song of "Gloom, despair and agony on me",,,, certainly to early for the "deep dark depression excessive misery"....

In fact you cannot even throw the switch after early signing day if a bunch of talent waits till February or we use up all our schollies...

Mizzou, Kentucky, UAB, South Carolina, and Mississippi State?
Awe inspiring?
Since it’s been several years since we have went thru a slate undefeated, yea we have turned this program around this year. At least to a positive fight to the end level and compete with anyone

Not sure who Missouri is going after, but they undoubtedly had recruits at the game last night. Sometimes the best recruiting is when you play good on the road. Even though we lost to Bama, those that witnessed the effort (hardest game Bama had up to that point) could perhaps be swayed. As OP states - wins down the stretch can relate to recruiting victories. Poor Derek Mason.. Can you imagine a recruit's official visit to the ETSU game and there were more people in the band than in the crowd.

Dude, we can still sign NINE recruits if I am remembering correctly! Are you another of the people on this site that gripe and whine about recruiting without understanding how the ranking system even works?

You look at last year's low ranked class, but the ones we got have worked out well and have great futures. IMO. Pruitt wants big and physical OLs and DLs. Check. Long physical DBs. Check. Need more speed at WR. Should be good at LB with Too Too, Crouch, Peterson and new commits. Need elite pass rusher(s). Need power running RB. Need an elite punter. If Harrison signs we have good QB depth and future star (maybe). If you just look at stars I understand your concern, but if needs are filled the next few years should be fun for Vol fans.

My point exactly. We have an all star recruiting staff so why only 20?
Well we've lost some top prospects to LSU, GA, and Auburn. All of which have a better record than us right now. A couple others decided to stay close to home. I don't think this has any bearings on our coaches recruiting ability. We've still got some top prospects in the mix who aren't committing til the end of their season. We'll see what happens.
