Did you see anything that suggests otherwise?
Yea I think it’s clear the staff learned from the ga state debacle and played 100% to win

I mean hell I was right behind the bench into the 4th qt yelling at the top of my lungs to get 20 out of the game. I was shocked he played so deep.

Fair enough. Thanks.
My apologies. I thought you were winding up for a negavol pitch.
Also see:
Most of our OL starters were dinged-up, out or limited against UAB. Morris had on an awkward shoulder harness/brace, which had to have impacted his play. Any time we're relying on the 2s and 3s, we're going to see a drop-off. Which we did... and hopefully won't at UK.

ESPN is fond of that UT can't win on the road narrative, but it's a bit misleading. We've only played two games OTR this year-- Florida and Bama, both Top 10 teams. IDT the road cost us those games. We just weren't playing at their level. UK is not at that level, and we need to beat them, anywhere we play them. Look for that ESPN crawl about UT being winless OTR since October 2018, though. It's what they do.

It's tiresome, trite, and it doesn't cost them any thinking, which they haven't proven they're capable of.

Tennessee held its Tuesday workout in advance of this weekend’s road game at Kentucky, and unlike last week when Jeremy Pruitt backed off a bit, the Vols were in full pads with much of the emphasis early on physicality.

Here are some quick reactions from two open periods…

Starting with the quarterbacks, all three guys were active Tuesday, with Brian Maurer going first in both individual and routes on air periods. During work with the tailbacks, Jarrett Guarantano went second, but he flipped roles with JT Shrout during the pass skeleton drill. Jim Chaney was really harping on the quarterbacks to take command of the offense this week, yelling multiple times, “We’ve got crowd noise to deal with this week. Nobody quit talking today!”

During routes on air, the Vols worked on several deep shots (slug-go, posts, back shoulder fades, deep ins) before moving toward more intermediate throws. All three quarterbacks had their moments, but Maurer did misfire on several deep shots.

Along the offensive line, Will Friend was all over his unit after a poor showing Tuesday. The Vols worked lots of interior combo sets. Brandon Kennedy started with the first-team but gave way to Ryan Johnson midway through the drill as the Vols look to limit the center’s reps. Later in the period, the tackles when to work with the tight ends. Darnell Wright had his left ankle heavily tapped and didn’t do much early before getting more involved near the end of the period. Jahmir Johnson was also out there and was participating in both drills.

Before the OTs joined the tight ends, Brian Niedermeyer was not happy with his unit during sled work. He yelled at Dominick Wood-Anderson a couple times, and did like how the senior responded when they moved to bag work.

Defensively, Tracy Rocker’s group was focusing mainly on gap control in advance of Saturday’s matchup vs. UK’s Wildcat offense. Rocker really harped on the guys not getting pushed out of the gaps they are responsible for. If you go back and watch Kentucky’s success against Missouri, there were gapping holes for the Kentucky run game as the Tigers defensive front had no gap integrity, allowing wideout Lynn Bowden to pick his lane to run through on the way to a 200 yard day and a win for the Wildcats

For the linebackers, it was also about run-fits vs. zone read stuff. Kevin Scherrer was focusing on footwork and the proper first steps for his linebackers in making sure they don’t loose leverage on the ball.

For the cornerbacks, much of the individual periods were devoted to open field tackling as Bowden has made some DBs look silly in space. On Saturday against UAB, Pruitt’s defense tackled really well, but Bowden is a much more difficult challenge.

Being serious for a moment..
I don't get mad at little jokes or shots Ubben has taken, don't even remember what he said, tbh.

But I get annoyed seeing the media around other programs always selling their team, while ours have earned their reputation for the opposite. Someone like DU comes along and you think "hey, maybe"??

Idgad about his positive articles, doesn't mean squat. Because most kids aren't subscribed to the Athletic...but they sure as hell on Twitter tho.
Positive press doesn't do a lot but we can always use it. Basically as simple as "you're part of the solution or you're part of the problem".
His Tweets were easy to predict after hanging with The Sports Source crew. Maybe he'll get that permanent spot when Hyams says to hell with it and runs off to Tahiti.
But I don't hate him, just no respect for the 15th squawking Parrot on the fence. Want to stand out? Try doing something new and different, instead.
Jmo.

It’s not Ubben’s job to propagandize the Tennessee Vols. The athletic dept does it constantly. Ainge pumps sunshine on the radio and twitter for us. Even the VQ and 247 guys are afraid to reveal the true warts of the program. The Travis Haney overreaction is still fresh in their minds.

We’ll be OK either way.

Freshman wall I’m afraid, and I’m betting he’s playing hurt.
If you are talking about Morris, I 100%agree. He has played against much better DLineman than that dude, and more than held his own. He looked obviously tired and hurt to me Saturday. I think he could use a bye probably more than anyone right now..

Had no problem with him until he started practicing his comedic chops. The crap with the t-shirts would be expected of a writer covering another team’s beat. Does well with practice reports...wish he’d use more of that skillset. As is, I don’t like the MF and I’m not going to be bashful about expressing that...it’s up to you UBBEN PUMPERS to cover his end.

Assuming new hc doesn't retain Briles, curious where he ends up. He had their offense moving in the right direction. Also wonder if ole Willie even was willing to give up the reigns like Kiffin and Applewhite did. Willie seems a little proud of his gangbusters offense that scored 21 ppg last year.
"Lethal Simplicity"...lol, it was lethal alright...to his fraud career.

When that dude covers for someone, it's a de facto condemnation. Just sayin.
