game thread was comedy at half time with hand wringing

I am convinced HE fixed JG. I left to go to church right after the 4tj down score where they went ahead 14-10. I prayed for JG at church not for winning but for protection From foolish vol fans

Who knew it HE cares about the Vols and JG was brilliant after that

The two side judges were terrible. Had no clue on the TD calls for USC.

That head linesman (guy with the"H" on his back) was guessing at those Touchdown calls.

The first one was reviewed and they let it stand ( not confirmed) using the exact angle the head linesman had, meaning he couldn't see it either.

The second time he called it, they reversed it. Pruitt went off on him. The three of them had a conference during one of the stoppages--Pruitt, the referee, and the head linesman. They moved him to the other side of the field for the second half.

The idiot linesman they put on the Tennessee side for the second half is the one that missed the facemask literally in front of him.

That crew was awful. The SEC has problems in their ref crews. When it's this widespread, the head guy is responsible and should be fired.

i have several thoughts.

1st, had the whole family over to mom and dad's for gumbo and football, and neither disappointed. felt like it did when i was a kid. so muuuuch fun. really had a great time, and the W was the absolutely perfect capper to the evening. Dad's gumbo was on freaking time to boot.......gotta give him credit. i was skeptical.

as for the game...

the refs suck. not going to even address it past that.

i don't know how you can't be happy for JG. i'm really proud of vol nation for not making it a thing when hit the field. and your efforts were rewarded. the kid played well. wish/hope that continues cause i bet we'll need him gain before it's all over. hope his hand isn't an issue? heard it was broken and getting surgery.

credit jeremy pruitt for how he handled the qb situation, managing it. would have been really easy for him or jg to check out of this relationship, and no one would have blamed either of them. so give them both credit for stayhing bought in to it. happy for them both.

the O line was good again. no sacks. and while i won't say we dominated the run game....we were able to run the ball enough to be able to keep runing it, which made a huge difference in the passing game. i thought our backs ran hard, and i though the O line was physical again.

austin pope is a weapon.

JT freaking shrout!!! what a game from that kid. i don't know how good he is overall, but he's got the deep ball down.....welcome to rocky top JT!!!!

alright, my las comments are for who i thought really stood out big time.

1. Jennings...duuuuuude..........hines ward part deux. he's the MVP of this season so far. that guy.........man.
2. Daniel Bituli....absolute monster tonight, even w/out the blocked punt and recovery. he was a beast.
3. i don't want to hear anyone say a word about coaching. if you watched this game tonight where we played 3 different QB's, and went thru what we went thru on the officiating front, and did what we did defenisvely time after time in short yardage situations....................yeah....these guys can coach. i give a TON of props to chaney for the game plan and how he managed the offense in general. soooooooo impressed..........and you gotta give pruitt and ansley equal credit for the 2nd half. 0 for 9 on 3rd downs in the 2nd half, zero points.............yeah....we have good coaches.
4. the fans. once again....you could hear it on the TV and it garnered more comments from folks about hte level of support our fan base continues to show. Pruitt made statements in the post game...which brought a HUGE smile to my face btw.....so fans get a major shout out.

i am so freaking proud right now.

and i'm sure Will douchebag Muschamp is super freaking disappointed. as he should be. i hate that guy.

GBO.

Slept so well last night.

Finally. Nothing to grump and whine about other than something that has been awful in the SEC forever - officiating. However, it's getting worse, not better. That is concerning. The integrity of the game is at stake and it's not just us getting worked over as it is happening in other games with other teams. Time for Steve Shaw to take his second retirement and a new regime of professionals take this over as a special project.

So glad CJP ended the coaching question. Now go run the table, finish a strong recruiting class, and develop this roster.

Remember that time Brady Hoke kicked Jennings off the team...?l

Thank goodness Fulmer and Pruitt had a different mindset and Jennings loved UT enough to stick around during the transition to see how it played out.
Having to fight his way back on the team gave us a better player. Fulmer and Pruitt didn’t immediately reinstate him so there was some justification behind the whole saga.

Y’all remember back in 2007 Alabama beat a then ranked Arkansas team... It was the game that turned the corner for a saban led Alabama.

I think you might be able to look back at last night as that point for us some time down the line.

Huuuge. Still grinning eat to ear
I believe everyone said that after auburn and ky. Last year. Then we gave up and even lost to Vandy. Let’s hope we’ve turned a small curve and will get better. But don’t get carried away. South Carolina thought they had turned the corner after beating Ga. how did that work out?
