Sure, development was an issue under Butch with some players, but he discovered the talent.

I was being more hypothetical I guess. Put him on a team with better coaching, and he would have gotten drafted.

I think that’s partially true. You don’t really need your head coach to be the one doing the developing. Butch replaced several quality assistants with clowns. I think our usage rates. we’re fine for the most part. Obviously
Kamara should’ve been used more specifically as a pass catcher. But other than that i can’t think of anyone we just didn’t use lol

Do we have another sports radio station in Knoxville? I normally end up listening to WNML when I'm out and about simply because I can never find another sports station. But not a fan of their normally negative slant. Hyams irritates the hell out of me.

So you think they are going to put in on kickoff returns, huh? I can dig it. He'll field the kick-off 8 yards deep into the end zone, look confused for a second or two, make a half-start at returning it, look at the sideline and appear (inexplicably) even more confused, and despite the other 10 players on the field giving him the stop sign, will then decide to return the kick, and be tackled on the 1/2 yard line.

I haven't decided yet whether or not he'll fumble.

LOL, it's a thing for sure, and it's primarily our favorite monkey-face, @utvols88 that does it. You surely have heard of one of our favorite player "mentors" known as Byron D'Vinner? Pretty close to my screen name, no? Anyway, that shole is where it's from.

Pruitt hasn’t lost to any West team not named Bama. And we play Arkansas and Ole Miss the next two years. I could live with 8-10 win seasons for a long time, but I would expect a UGA or UF win once every three years. We would be a top fifteen program year in and year out. Please sign me up for that. I hope it begins next year.

there's a fox sports station....but i don't really care for it either.

i stream swain early, and Ainge right after. and that's it. don't have any real use for the rest of the sports talk knoxville. i'll listen to a few pod casts every now and then, but that's literally every now and then...usually if there's something specific i wanna hear more on. VQ podcasts are pretty good. RTI podcasts are ok. VR2 is pretty good....

this. i think it's probably unrealistic to think you're going beat UGA, Bama, UF in the same year, on a regular basis...

but can you win at least 1 or 2 of 3 fairly regularly? can we get back to handling the November portion of the schedule?

we don't have to, nor will we go 11-2 or 12-1 all the time. but gimme a 10 win season with a bowl win or an 11 win weason with a bowl win every couple/three years and i'll show you a program that's probably capable of winning the SEC E more often than not and a team that is in contention for the division past the end of September more times than not.

i think something that shouldn't go w/out mention here is how the SEC has altered our schedule a little. with our schedule being so front loaded for most of hte past 30 years, we literaly were either in or out of the SEC race by the end of September......

spreading out the UGA, FL and Bama games a bit shoud at least help with that much. i like having the late season game against UGA next year. gimmie a big game 1 per month...FL sept, Bama oct...UGA nov........who knows, by the time we get to that UGA game, maybe there's still a chance for us to be in it.

but man, here lately, obviously we've been no where near good enough to compete for a division, but you wanna be relevant late in the season? it does matter when you watch some of our competition play 6 or 7 games, get to that 6-0, 7-1 mark, setting up HUGE games with conf implications later in the season....UG A, Bama and FL are loading up W's on the Mizzou's, UK's, Vandy's, ARK, Ole miss, MSU's of the world the first couple months of the season. while we're playing Bama, UGA, FL and a west team before the middle of October......anyway, you get the point.

we don't get that typically because of how our schedule is set up most years. we're either in it or done after week 4 or 5 it seems like.

and not for nothing, but i still think that's why Peyton didn't win the heismen. while he's playing UK, USCe and Vandy....his competitors were playin OSU, Mich State, ND....but i dgress...............

It's crazy when you consider that TN is considered one of the most rabid fan bases in the country.
And we get WNML, KNS, The Sports Source and Ubben.

Man, what any half decent media/communications director could have done in this area.
Tbf, half of those cater to the LOM and are benefiting from their strategy.

The coaching staff coaches 'em up to play with an attitude like that of young lads having fun. Then JG makes an immature mistake and some want to crucify him. I'll tell you, that's what's pitiful.

If you think that the criticism with JG is due to one immature mistake, then I don't think you're paying attention.

our best guys have all gone on to do bigger/better things.

chris low, wojo, ryan mcgee (not sure why the general consensus is on RM, but i like the guy....), our guy at Outkick...charles davis....

kinda weird there's not more former players involved in the local media. i don't dislike ainge, but i take him with a grain of salt...like him most for the actual football talk, less on the peripheral, big picture stuff. swain, pretty much the exact opposite...probalby why i listen to them both.

anyway...im not looking for water carriers in the media...but it'd sure be nice if we had guys that at least gave a crap. unlike hyams, adams, ubben etc..........
